Its known as the Portee, developed by BAE systems apparently. It uses the M777 155mm/39 towed lightweight gun and a specially designed version of a vehicle known as the Supacat. The gun isn't actually mounted to the chassis it seems. The gun will be a standard towed version, but carried on the back of the vehicle, to be deployed by a mechanical system. Heres the link:

How is this better than a towed gun with a prime mover - say, a standard 5 ton truck? Other than it would cost a lot more?

Smaller overall package size. Easier to maneuver.

It is designed to a requirement to be easily air transported - short answer: it fits neatly in a C130, which a 5-ton prime mover and the howitzer do not.
