Recently I’ve been interested in building some tanks in the Pacific theater. I’ve got a great publication from Squadron featuring TONS of nice pictures of tanks Iwo Jima. Does anyone know if there is a similar reference book featuring tanks on Okinawa?
Thanks and best wishes to all for a very happy holiday season,
Noah

No specific tank book exsists as yet, we can only prey.
Each one of these has some of the information you may be searching for;
Victory and Occupation
Okinawa: Victory in the Pacific
Marines in the Victory on Okinawa
Okinawa: The Last Battle US Army
Search google for each of these books;
Marine Tank battles in the Pacific By Oscer Gilbert
On this one DO NOT BUY THE DA CAPRO edition unless you can get it for $5.00
The pictures suck. The original Combined Publishing is the best. When they are describing a picture and all it looks like is a black blob it doesn’t help a whole bunch.
The Old Breed at Peleliu and Okinawa By E.B. Sledge
Search on general items on Okinawa
General search in Armorama
I don’t know of any other specific book but each of these have numerous references to the tanks.
Hope these help for a start at least.
Let me know if you need something specific, I’m no expert but I do have a lot of info.
Good luck, it’s a great topic,
Bob

Thanks very much for your reply and all the info you’ve provided me! Very helpful!!!
And on side note, in the time since I first asked my question, I saw and purchased Steven Zaloga’s book “Armored Thunder” at a local bookshop.
It’s got a whole chapter dedicated to M4 variants that served in the Pacific and some VERY NICE photos of tanks on Okinawa. If you don’t already have it I would absolutely recommend picking up a copy.
Take care and thanks again,
Noah
