what do you intend to portray some german armor rolling around with troops, or some imbattled U.S. airbourne troops fighting for their lives? or why not watch the episode of band of brothers where they're in bastogne that could help, or do an american convey all blocked up by some roadsigns which have been switched and have the officers all looking at maps and arguing like in battle of the bulge that would look awsome! but in the end of the day its up to you good luck

Matt,
Apart from googling the net for pics, you might want to go to your local library and get every possible book on the battle of the bulge. I'm sure you'll find loads of ideas then.
Another starting point might be http://www.amba.lu , there under members, you'll find many museums, esp. this one has photo's of their dio's http://www.nat-military-museum.lu .
And , if you know a bit more about what you want to build, I can look true my books and photo's and email you some photo's for ideas.

The Life photo archive on Google has some excellent photos of the Bulge, including many in color. Here is a link:

Well Matt I don't think there is anything to suggest Bastogne in this photo idea, so that is the first question you need to ask yourself. This scene could be anywhere anytime from say August 1944 onwards, be it France Germany, Belgium etc. Do you want it to specifically represent Bastogne?
If so, then if I recall correctly the weather had turned by the 20th and by the time Bastogne was occupied by Allied forces, would be covered in snow... Which in my opinion could show a neat scene, especially a newer dugout with fresh turned soil contrasting the snow cover...
Your thoughts?
Brad
