This one is for James, awhile back you posted that you got a M8 and I said I was working on one with Interior and Engine Comp.
Well, here's the photo's.
Both Interior and Engine are Verlinden kits.

Feedback welcome. Thx.

Hey James,
Thanks for the kind words. I still think it could use some work.
I'll have to take some more for you.
As far as fit goes, you'll have to do some cutting near the fuel tank. The instuction for the install were confusing at first, but after a few dry fits things fell into place. One thing that you should do before install is put the fan belts on!! (Something I forgot to do )
Overall it was a good first try of an after market kit.

Are you going to try the interior??

I'll post the photo's soon.

Scott,
Thanks.
The vise is for when the project goes South and needs a major overhaul.

I use the vise as an extra set of hands when I make my tow cables from scratch.

So far so good. Are you going to have the engine bay open? If so are you going to put a battery on the shelf?
Not sure if the dials on the radio should be white. Are you just doing a base coat of white, then masking it off to get the number underneth white and top coat of green?

Lookin' good overall, keep it up.

Hey Guys,
Again, thanks for the kind words. This has been an off/on project for the last 3+ yrs. (Mainly off.)

James,
The blue is painter tapes that I put down when I painted the outter shell. The floor on the M8 was white, and the turret ring was the OD on the turret gear. The M20 was open topped and was painted different. It was all OD in the fighting comp. and white in the driver's area.

Scott,
In my research, the radio dials are going to be painted black with white outlines. I just did that to try to bring out some of the detail in the radio. I'm going to repaint the storage area on the side by the engine to match outside. As far as the battery goes, it will be in the tray. I'm still working on the wiring details.
I still think I've got weathering and more detailing to do.

I'm not sure what dio my going to put it in, I'm looking into the use of the M8 in the PTO area.

So far I've found it was limited in service due do the jungle areas, it was more suited for the ETO and MTO areas.

Anyways, Happy New Year to All and to the Servicemen and Women who can not join us this holiday season. More post to come.

You are right the M8 was limited in the PTO, but it did server in the Philippines.

The dial technique you're using is what I thought you would do.

James,
Sorry, my bad. Didn't mean to make waves. I had M8 photos too, but they took up too much space, had to delete from last post. Will try again tomorrow.

Happy New Year to you and yours.

James,

I take it you got the interior already and are in the process of install??
Can't remember if your doing the engine also??
Watch the placement of the ammo rack that is on the floor, it gets tight with the shell rejection bag for the 37mm gun. It interfears with the turrent movement.

Looking forward to seeing the photos.

James,

The Tamiya kit won't have it, the Verlinden interior kit will have it.
I'll send photos.
First photo: Note the placement of the ammo rack on floor. (Center Diagram.)

I've got more if you need them.

Brian,

Your M8 looks really good.

James,

I'm working on the Tamiya M20, I've seen the pics posted above where the M20 interior looks like its painted all white?? From everything I have learnt previously, anything that would be visible from the air would be in Olive Drab?? So I'm painting the front drivers area and radio storage area white and the rest of the interior olive drab
Looking to seeing your M20 pictures.

James,

I agree and will painting mine in that manner. In the Squadron /signal #37 US Armoured Cars in action, pages 14 and 15 show an M20 with a completely white interior

Here is a link to the SCR-508 radio supplied with the kit. It is a nice picture, with the main body in olive drab, flat black panels, white dial, green indicator light, and steel coloured connections.
http://www.syzen.com/milradio/img2000/dsc00008.jpg

On another website the radio body was all flat black with the rest in the colours described above.

James,

Lol, I meant that I will be painting mine like yours, white drivers area, the rest of the interior OD, but like everything else, there are exceptions to way the regulations said it was supposed to be done The one in the squadron book might be a pre-production model or maybe one owned by a collector, so who knows
