Hi guys,
I just though it would be nice to share...
These are my self-made 1/35 "Acteryx Tango type" backpacks I will use for my just finished LAV-C2.
Most pictures of USMC deployed in Iraq in past few years show this kind of backpack and as it is not available in 1/35 I made my own from Goffy´s CFP-90 and paper strips and pieces.
Hopefully you´ll like it. Any comment will be apreciated.

Wow, that's what I call perfect shading. The finish is done really well, it looks exactly the way a backpack should. Could you perhaps go into greater detail on the construction/building process? I'm curious as to know exactly how you did it!
Great work Sharik!

Excellence as usual. Did you by chance make molds and cast them prior to your straps?
I second Mike, a nice sequence showing the complete process would be great.

Hi guys,
thanks all for your kind words. Actually it wasn´t any complicated conversion. When I found out that the most often type of backpack seen on USMC vehicles deployed in Iraq between 2006 - 2007 is the Acteryx Tango I printed couple of close view pictures and decided to start with the Goffy Model´s CFP-90 which I had in my spare box.
I cut off all the details so that only the basic shape and upper part (which seems to be quite similar on both types) remained. I cut a few paper strips in two different widths and a "V-shape" front cover of the bag. This went on primarily and then the paper strips exactly according to the photos. Finally some etched parts were used to represent the straps´ clips.
It is quite tough to simulate the digital camouflage pattern and I was quite scared about that. I decided to paint the whole bag with brown (Humbrol 29) and then just lightly spotted with a brush the green and black colour. Then sprayed with a gloss lacquer and made the typical finishing work = wash with darkened brown colour and drybrush with a lightened one.
That´s it guys, nothing sophisticated Unfortunately I have a very little time for the hobby, so only two originals were made for my LAV-C2 and no resin cast available. Should I decide to make again someting from modern USMC era I will try my best.
Thanks again.

Dear Seb,
I don´t know whether it is the official provider but I see these bags on almost every Marines´ LAV deployed after 2006. I am no US military specialist, I only copy what I see pictured, but may someone outhere will help ...???
To buy some items from me?!?! Actually I work in sales but in tourism, so whenever you plan to come to our wonderful city of Prague and search for accommodation, let me know ...sorry, modelling is just a hobby for me

That for the offer, I have been to Praha in July 2004, what a beautifully city.
Well I just want to know if you are going to make some copy of your bags ??
If yes I will not be the only one to be interested.
I just want to pay for the resin.
Please let me know.
Cheers

Dear Seb,
thanks. I thought you had been thinking of the resin cast. It is a great satisfaction for me that you are interested in what I have done, but as stated before I have a very little time for modelling and within that I only want to focus on finishing my projects. Also, I have never ever made my own resin casts so it would probably take time before someting usable comes out on light
Who knows, may be one day when I get bored of tourism ...
Thanks again.
Jiri
PS: What about the M1078 SOF Mothership ... already prepared for construction?

Well Skarik
It is a pity may be you can talk to Milo from Real Model you are living in the same town.
he can cast your backpack for you and you receive a % on each sale.
What do you think ???
Concerning the M1078, I will have great news soon, stay tune
Cheers

Very nice scratchbuild job Jiri. Do you have any pics showing views of the other sides? It would be really nice if you could work out something with Milo of Real Model for selling these commercially, they're great!!
