when dry brushing camo schemes do you dry brush a lightershade of each camo color or is the base coat colour?

Take your pick. I've heard of each way being used, but I personally drybrush all green based vehicles with Tamiya Buff and all tan based vehicles I weather exclusively with pastel as I feel you can get a more 'realistic' finish with this style.

For a King Tiger I did with three-tone camo, I drybrushed all with Armour Sand first (like Tamiya Buff), then with Light Sea Grey. When drybrushing, you do not necessarily have to use lightened tones of the base colour to get the desired effect.

I prefer to use oils to dry-brush my AFVs only because I have the impresiion that I can better control the colour. I use it also on Nato three colour camo schemes. Another thing I like of oils is that if I'm not that happy with the result either I can blend it or completely remove it with a dry clean cloth... Generally I use Winsor & Newton's Naples Yellow.
