Hi all,
First, let me wish a Happy New Year to all of you at Armorama!
I'm usually an aircraft builder but from time to time (I dare to say more and more) I'm also building vehicles. This is my last model of the year 2008: Tamiya/ICM's 1/48 scale Sd.Kfz. 222 in Afrika Korps markings...
I made a North Africa diorama last year (2008) for other models but couldn't resist to shoot some more pictures of the 222 "in situ"...
The Sd.Kfz. 222 kit from ICM is very easy to build from the box. I took me three days and it was really fun. I just love that 1/48 stuff and I'm looking forward to build many more armor kits in quarter scale.

Nice to see the occasional foray into armor Jean-Luc, it looks the part "in situ".

I really like your 222!!! That's a awesome scene you made up too. Maybe you should try the 250 or 251 half-tracks to go with it? Congrats on the finish and hope you try some more 1/48 vehicles

Hi all,
Thanks for the kind words...
I already built the 251 for the initial diorama but the 250 is of course also on my "to buy" list.
By the way, for those who are interested, the various African style buildings are available from the french manufacturer Mark58 ([email protected]).
All the best,
Jean-Luc

Very nice in all ways! The vehicle, the setting, the figures. And isn't that a Storch wing in one photo? Now that's worth a combination photo, vehcile and aircraft together. For me that is the best reason to build 1/48 scale vehicles, so that they can be combined with aircraft on a diorama. I have done that many times. Take a look at www.geocities.com/stevescalemodels , the diorama sections.

I welcome comments on how to improve these dioramas, as this past year I have been reviewing these older dioramas of mine and seeing how they need work.

Hi Stephen,
Yes, the wing is from a Fieseler Storch. The initial diorama looked like this...
