Um....with 1/35 scale, would foam-board constructed buildings covered with some plaster be too thin for the scale , would I have to use wood?....I'm more use to wood but I was wondering if it is ok to use foam-board for making walls ...it seems faster

I think it would be ok. If you were doing a traditional frame style house it might be a bit thick. If you don't emphasize the edge of the building it would be fine. It wouldn't make the plaster too thick. If it's too thick it will look bad and depending on the water content of the plaster you'll run the risk of deforming the foamboard.

I think some 1/4" GatorBoard with a Lightweight Hydrocal skim would be just great for 1/35. I peruse the Large-scale train forums for sceniking helpful how-tos all the time. Railroaders have some great scenery ideas that armor modelers can use all over the place.
If you don't know, GatorBoard is a foam-core board with wood sheathing on both sides. Good for lots of 1/35 buildings and scenery stuff.
Hope I've helped,
Cuhail

Here's the product site here (GatorFoam) to see what it actually is, but, a quick Yahoo search yeilded more than a few vendors of the stuff.
Good luck!

Try local sources first. Nearby Hobby Lobbys and art-supply stores. Being near Chicago makes me much less able to check your local sources.
Grab a phone book and make some calls around where you live.
Hobby Lobby.
Michael's Crafts.
Art-supply stores.
Hope I've helped.

Hi Tom,
If your in the Toronto area you can get it at Studio Specialties close to Yorkdale mall.
If your not close your best bet is to ask someone from the visual presentation dept. in a large retail store, best bet is the Bay,where you can find it in your area.
I was in the display field for many years and Gatorboard and Foamcore are a staple to the occupation.

Hey Tico, I read a bit of the "Free Supplies" thread today and it made mention of the polystyrene foam trays that you get under meat from the grocery store. I guess it's really easy to work with, cut, hot-glue, etc and is really just the foam-core board without the faces.
Just a thought.
