I finally finished this dio I started in June. I lost a lot of bench time do to my knee surgery and recovery. Much better now and have finished this one I call "Defenders of Leningrad". A Zis-5 truck (Eastern Express) is taking a 45mm anti-tank gun (Alanger) and it crew forward to defend the city. As they travel down the narrow dirt road they pass a T-30 scout tank ( maquette) and its crew taking a brief break from the fighting.
Thanks for looking Guys. Thats the first one down for 2009!!!

Great diorama Don! Saw this a while back as you were initially planning it out, what a difference between then and now! Like how you've intergrated the foliage and road, looks great! Thanks for sharing your work! Glad you're up and at 'em again!

Darren, I 've done a feature in the past and have a retropective posted too, but that has been a few years back. Maybe I'll do another in the future.

Hi Don. Looks great ... great scene and I love the figures posed in the back of the truck. The foilage is excellent. One little problem though ... the flap on the bottom of the 45mm should fold up for transport.

Thanks for the kind words again guys
Frank... I completely spaced folding up the shield. What really makes it bad is that I had to resculpt that part of the road bed because the bottom plate was rubbing the ground Duh!!!!
Matthew,,,, Yes those are early miniart figure set.

Actually the thing that strikes me is that the Red Army did not have anything like enough trucks to waste one towing a 45mm battalion AT gun. There were not enough trucks to even motorize divisional artillery! That's really trivial though and most folks would never have that thought occur to them. The execution otherwise is brilliant. The groundwork is spectacular.

there is a mistake in writing word Leningrad, just huge mistake.
The right variant is ЛЕНИ НГРАД
