I am gonna build a German factory with a Tiger tank being built
I need some more info though:
What did the factories look like and what tools were there?
What order would these steps be in during construction of a tank:
1 Primer
2 Turret put on
3 engine put in
4 final paint
Thanks
Evan

Try getting a DVD on the Tiger by "The War Archives: Tiger" or "Scorched Earth: Tiger" as these types of programs usually have a few minutes of footage of Tiger tanks being produced. Cost is around $10 - check E-Bay or Amazon. That may help you get the feel for your scene. Another option is the book "Tigers in Combat I or II." As these books stuff in about every known photos of Tiger tanks.

when i read this i thought of the aeroplane mproduction line shown in sheperd paine's book on dioramas. it appears inside the book but i can only find this pic of cover of the first edition which shows it. basically he used mirrors on either side which makes the production line seem be a lot longer and have several planes when in fact there is only one. perhaps you might consider something similar for yours as the effect is truly stunning.

Darren,
Thanks for the link. Those are some great pictures of the factory, as well as explanations of the process. Those pictures remind me of the factory where my dad worked, which was probably built in the 1920's or '30's. The family that owned the factory sold it in the late 1980s; the new owner stripped the machines out and moved them north, but all the old builidngs still are around.
It seems to me, several years ago, I found a similar website about the production of Tigers, but the site wasn't technically well-developed.
Thanks again the link. I hope Evan (orignator of this thread!) finds all this useful.
Tim

Gee, knowing that mirrors were used, the illusion is truly spoiled!
