The above Kit has just arrived with Netnerchants. So whats the low down on this kit.. Where has this version saw action. Hobbyboss have released several good kits recently i can't comment on the quality and fit but they look good.

I should add that i am talking about the Hobbyboss HBB82413 AAVP-7A1 Assault Amphibious Vehicle

I don't know if this is the reaction you are looking for, but, there is an ongoing thread focussing on the Hobbyboss AAVP-7A1 in stock... and it's release.
The vehicle itself is the Modern Troop Transport for the US Marine Corps deployed in the current Iraq and Afghan wars.

Hope this helps,
Cuhail

I'm not sure the AAV7A1 as depicted in this kit (no RAM/RS upgrade + no EAAK armor) has been used in OIF. I've gathered hundreds of OIF AAVs pics and the only non-upgraded AAVs without EAAK I've seen so far were command (AAVC) and recovery (AAVR) variants...
...But I'd be happy to be contradicted

Armorama has been supplied with a review sample of this kit. I will get it to Darren the next few days, to do a review. I won't pre-emt his review, but I will say that when I looked into the box, I was tempted to 'pull rank', and do this one myself... . As a 'Modellers' kit, it looks really very nice.

Cheers

Thank you Frenchy, I was generalizing.

Paul, listen to Frenchy more than me on deployments and versions. He knows FAR more than I on the subject.

I defer.

You're welcome Cuhail, but I'm NO expert ...To say the truth I've just found at least one OIF picture of the AAV7A1 as depicted by Hobby Boss (1 picture out of 480 showing OIF non-upgraded AAVs in my "OIF AAVs" folder...) :

At least I was right not to be sure...

If you want something done, it's better to do it yourself ....

I have been through my pictures as well as some of my other references, the only one i could find is in Concords special OPs vol 26 "road to Baghdad" on page 27 there is a picture of a AAVP7-a1 with out any EEAK armour fitted, but it is behind another AAVP7-a1 RS/RAM so it isn't overly clear.

All the other pictures of the non RS/RAM AAVP7-a i have show it with the EEAK armour fitted, it looks like hooby boss are going to release a version with the EEAK, hopefully they will release the EEAK as a small upgrade kit for those who want it otherwise you will need the Hobby fan conversion set

cheers

keith

Hi Keith
I've got this book, and I also have another book (by Yves Debay too) that includes the same picture, but much larger (and not distorted ): you can clearly see that the second, sand-painted AAV is a non-upgraded AAVCA1 command vehicle : on the hull side, the two antenna masts of the "C" variant are clearly visible.

cheers Frenchy

I did wonder if it was the AAVCA1 but couldn't really tell from that picture , it is like searching for a needle in a haystack through trying to find the picture of AAVP7a1 during OIF with out the EEAk armour on

cheers
