Heres a few photos of my white washed Panzer IV F1.
I used the hairspray method to try and achieve a worn look.i made a big cock up on the Turret as i forgot to spray hairspray on it and i only noticed when i was trying to take off the flat white with warm water that i must of forgot to spray it

.
Sillly me.
Anyway this is before any weathering has been applyed.
Thanks for looking
Karl

You've done an excellant job on your F1 Karl. The white wash looks the part. It will look even better once you wash and weather it. Keep us posted on your progress.

Very nice. I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to armour subjects, would you care to expand on the 'hairspray method'?
And then a question re. the whitewashing of vehicles: your's seems to be very thoroughly done (and I like that

), right down to the suspension, exhaust, idler gear etc. How thoroughly was this done in the field?
In order to give context to my naive question, I've got a Kharkov vehicle planned for sometime over the next century

Once again, terrific work!

Very nice job! I've always been afraid to do a whitewash paint scheme but I think I may give it a shot using this method.
One bit of constructive criticism - I would also apply white over the wooden jackblock, spare roadwheel rims and tool handles. Most pix of seen show the entire tank whitewashed. I don't think the guys slopping on this paint would take the time to mask off the tool handles and rubber tire rims. If anything, that makes the tank stand out even more.
Anyway, that is just my $0.02. Can't wait to see this weathered.

Wow ... it bright ... (reaching for me sunglasses)
I think the wear looks perfect Karl ... enough to show it breaking down but still keeping the whitewashed effect. Its all down to the weathering now, this is a perfect base for that!!

Hi Karl,
I really like your whitewash. Besides the model that base of yours looks awsome. How did you achieve that realistic look? Can you post a pic whithout the model, just the base.
Thanks

Hi all
I made some progress on the weathering.i added some filter washes all over and a pin wash to the bolt heads and receses.next i need to make a start on the lower half using russian earth pigments. You may notice that i have not installed the periscope blocks in the commanders cupola, the reason for this is that the figure wont fit with them in.
Rob i brought the base off ebay, infact i brought 4 of them and added some small stones and static grass over the plaster.
Many thanks for all your feedback.
Kind Regards
Karl
