Hi,

Just want to show my latest work in progress: The HMMWV with ASK and HArD kit, including the airco.

I've used TAMIYA's magnificent HMMWV as a base. The ASK and HArD kit are the latest releases from Pro Art Models, which also includes the airco at the back.

Building started with the interior, which was detailed using bits and pieces from other Pro Art releases like the Interior Set and Communication Set. The interior fan is included in the HArD-kit. The wheels with snow chains are a limited release and are beautiful.
I thought it would be a nice detail to add the MILES II system.

I've got my inspiration from pictures I received from Ralph Zwilling, taken during a Mission Rehearsal Exerise (MRX) at the JMRC Hohenfels (D) in March 2006. These show some HMMWV's with snow chains on a snowy terrain.

In the meantime the interior is painted and detailed, and the exterior has received its cammo, all Tamiya Acrylics.
Right now I'm working on the weathering, so more pictures will follow asap.

I hope you like it.

Best regards,
Hugo Luyten

Your interior is stunning Hugo, I like the way you've painted all the computer stuff. The air fan is a nice addition as well.
It looks like PAM have released another excellent set. Thanks for sharing.

Hugo
I like your treatment of the hood/ exterior paint is brilliant, very subtle. The coms set are incredibly detailed considering their minute size, nice and busy. The helmets look excellent as do the Blue Force screen and computer screens. I have never seen a HMMWV modelled like this before, I am excited to see the Red Dot AC complete in the rear. Looking forward to see the next update.

Bill

Wow! It looks great. I love the detailed interior and the weathering. What an outstanding job. Will this Humvee be in Afghanistan or Iraq? If so, I'm not sure the MILES gear is appropriate (but defer tot he experts). If not, you may want to change the box of bottled water--it's a brand used in the Middle East.

where are the snow chained wheels?

Hi Marcel,
they come from the 6th picture downward. They are a bit far to see the details though. I 'd appreciate some close-ups Hugo

Hi guys,

Thanks for your comments.

Hi Lucas. You are right. I knew I would take a jump on this one. The HMMWV wil be situated in Hohenfels, the card boxes were used to bring some light into the darker interior. On the back side of the boxes is indeed Arabic text, that's why I placed this side towards the back side so nobody could see it. Not. I can't replace these as the roof is already glued in place so I'll leave it as it is. Thank you for pointing this out, you have good eyes.

Hi Sebastien. I did a Google search on the Blue Force, adapted the size of the screen prints to the actual size of my screens, printed them out and glued them in place. That's all. Easy.

Hi Marcel. It is one and the same vehicle on the pictures. I built the model in sub-assemblies for easy painting. Today I did some weathering and painting on the roof, airco and wheels, so I'll post some new pictures this week. The first pictures still show the Blast wheels, picture 6-7 show the new back and front tyres, the latter one with snow chains. As soon as the painting and snow on the wheels are dry, I'll make some detail pictures. See you at IPMS Antwerp in March.

Hi Olivier, here is a cropped part of a picture of the wheel with snow chains. The set will include all 4 wheels with chains, but I'll only use the two front wheels as the reference pictures show. I'll try to make better picture later on.

In the meantime all doors and airco are mounted, and weathering is coming along, accessories for the trunk are finished. Still a long way to go: more weathering, InfinityShape figure, base for the model...
I'll make some more in progress pictures this week.

Oh and: the interior fan isn't included in the HArD-kit but in the airco-kit 35009, sorry for the mix-up.

Greetings and thanks for watching,
Hugo Luyten

Hi Hugo,

Amazing, your Humvee projects are just great! I still remember your Dumvee featured in MMiR... that was a magnificent build as well. I saw the Dumvee model last year in Mosonmagyarovar and it was even better in person. I'm really sorry I missed meeting you there.

Anyway, this is going to be another masterpiece. I love how you pay attention to all the details... the ProArt stuff looks great! I can't wait to see the progress. What Infinity Shape figure are you planning to use with the Hummvee?

Cheers,
Mario

If so my e-mail [email protected] and i'll get it loaded up for you.

Hi Mario,

I'm glad you liked my Dumvee. Sorry that we didn't meet at Mosonmagyarovar last year. This year we'll visit again the Hungarian show, so a new oppurtunity meeting you there. I am planning to use the U.S. Soldier #1, OIF Infinity Shape IS-35WU024.

Hi Rick,
I'm already working on article on this one, but I'll keep my in progress updated on this site. But anyway thanks for asking.

Last week I didn't have that much time for the hobby, but here are some pictures of the vehicle and base. Still lots of work on the weathering of the front side and Red Dot airco, and the wheels. They received some snow but the sides of the wheels still need to be dusted and some dried mud. The base has only his first paint on it. Next comes dead leaves and of course snow.

Greetings,
Hugo

Great stuff, looking forward to seeing the snow... it would give that special touch to the whole setup. The figure is going to give some life to the scene as well.

I loved the Dumvee and remember emailing with you about the model, so you can imagine my surprise seeing it in person in Hungary. Anyway, I'm sure I'll be in Moson this year, so we should get in touch and grab a beer or two. Maybe even three or four...
