I was looking at the Stevens International site and saw this,
TSM-1519 1/35 LAV III Kodiak Light Armored Personnel Vehicle $0.00 TBA
http://www2.stevenshobby.com:5641/ , search LAV then scroll down towards the Trumpeter section and there it is. Anyone have any word on this? I know that we've been waiting forever for T-62s and BMP-3s, but a Kodiak would be freakin' awesome.

Yes it would be awesome. I know most of us in Canada would be especially excited to see this vehicle in plastic even though the name Kodiak was never used for it.
The Real Model stuff is nice but a little out of my price range at this time.
Not going to get too excited though but at least there is a bit of hope.

It looks like Trumpeter is out to single-handedly corner the modern armor market! It's interesting to see how few WWII kits they have slated for release. Makes me quite happy!!!

Obviously they've been paying attention to what people have asked for and seen what's been missing. Great choices. These are kits a lot of people are going to want.

It looks good.....if it is still in the development stages then you should consider including all the newest modifications as options.....the 'T' style antenna mounts, rear hatch extended armour plating, turret raised armour and vision blocks, lower hull suspension armour plating, extended jerry can racks, and addional add-on armour for the fuel tanks.
With four upcoming Canadian AFVs....Grizzly, Husky, LAV-III, LAV-TUA.....how about a set of modern Canadian figures?

I agree with Jason, if it's still in the development stage might as well make it as up to date as possible.
And could people please refrain from calling it a Kodiak, please. No one calls it that, it's just a LAV III, period.
cheers from the sandbox

Well i hopes these modern babies will be good sellers, lot of modellers dreams of new kits but when there're out, they don't buy and asks for another news.
All modelling shops i went says that and on internet forums i thinks it's the same and if plastic companies don't sell well they'll stop to produce modern subjects.
Personnally i'll for sure get most of the "modern subjects", and hopes to see more modern figures sets (i said it before but the new trumpeters sets are better than Dragon sets excepting heads).
The US army tow bars as separate items is a nice idea, i'll get a few sets for my AFV club strykers.
Golden ages for modern modellers.

We definitely need some M1114 HMMWVs (need a vehicle to put my Misfits decals from the Echelon sheet on).
And in combination with the German Bundeswehr KSK troops in Afghanistan we also need this vehicle: AGF Sergal

That concerns me when I see Kodiak...to me it means not a total understanding of the LAV III....will it be accurate, will they have based it off of demo vehicles?
The Kodiak is the Swiss AEV-3....based on the Leopard 2....hopefully Canada will be buying them (fingers crossed).....then Trumpeter feel free to produce a model of the AEV-3 and call it a Kodiak.

Yep. I couldn't agree with you more! I'm having a real good time building the Spanish Centuaro (okay, the bustle rack was a bit of a pain and I am holding off on the photo etch headlight guards and mirror mount until the end), but so far so good!
Gaoyue, from the pictures you supplied, it looks like this kit --- like the Centauro kit --- will also come with rubber tires. I'm not a fan of real rubber tires from any kit manufacturer. To me the rubber is always susceptible to oil washes, thinners and other chemicals modelers use. Is there any chance that Trumpeter would dump the rubber tires and start slide molding kit tires in plastic? As long as the detail is decent, styrene tires are fine by me and I'd rather not pay big bucks for resin wheels if I can help it, especially when they cost as much as or more than the price of the kit! :O
Keep those great releases coming --- can't wait to see the M1117 and those PMCs!
Regards and Aloha,
Johnny B.
