I was wondering if anyone out there has taken out a second mortgage on the house and bought Tamiya's 1/16 Tiger 1. What I was looking to do was find out which parts tree (or trees) has the turret parts and see if I could buy them from Tamiya for a base for Verlinden's 120mm tank crew. I'd like the decal sheet too. Just thought I'd ask.

I've got one, I won it on the Kithobbyist.com site so I didn't have to pay for it. Haven't built it yet, but just broke down and bought the 4 channel R/C controller needed to run this thing. That thing alone was pushing $200. It is slated to be a summer project.

Someone else here has built one recently as well.

I have both the static and full-function versions. And, I have also had the experience of purchasing extra sprues for them and the KTs. To purchase all the sprues and associated parts needed to build the complete outer turret will cost you a few dollars less than purchasing the static model. However hear is a list of the sprues:

B - 0005790
E - 0005793
F - 0005794
G - 0005795
H - 0005796
Cupola - 0335186
Lower Turret Shell - 0335187

As I said, there are some associated metal parts and fasteners as well, but you could probably make due without them and reduce the cost significantly.

Finally, there is the issue of spare track links. The complete bag is#9415675, but you don't need al of them. You could contact Kenny Kong and buy just a few metal ones? - These tracks are big bucks, so finding an alternative is another big savings!

Bought the display-only Tiger 1 plus the Aber P/E 'basic set', fenders(all around) and exhaust shields. Have a full-blown machine shop here at home and am in the process of turning this big bad boy into a life-altering commitment. See below for some machined goodies in 1/35. Given the size of the 1/16 canvas there are few concessions to scale.
