Evening everyone, or morning to our freinds from accrossed the pond.

As you all know I drive truck all over the U.S. and sometimes come accross hardware that needs to be shipped by truck from base to base.
Case in point, this lovely piece of hardware rolling out of Texas, Ft. Hood area.

This a Teaser photo. Like it?

At a quick glance.

It looks like one of those Oshkosh tank transporter tractors.

Yes, this is an Oshkosh HET - Heavy Equipment Transport. I recently had the opportunity to climb around on one.

I think Accurate Armor is only kit available at the moment.

Yep, It's a monster. I didn't get a chance at a walk around like you did Mark.
But I did manage to get a few on a Low boy trailer for size comparision to a normal over the road rig like the one I drive.
I'll post those later.

James,

I've seen alot of the stuff, but never really taken any photos till a few months ago.
I'll get to see the odd M88, or Bradley, a M113 here and there.
The M1's movements are done by rail over here. Sometimes on trailer, but that's rare anymore.

Every once and a while there be a WW2 piece of armor go by and I'll try and snap a pic of it. Very rare that happens.

Anyways, I'll try to get some more photo's for ..

BTW, How's the M20 coming along??

Lyndon,

Cool, if it's a short drive. But I'm talking moving equipment 2,000+ miles from base to base.

Alot of people don't know that the Interstate road system over here was created to move weapons and supplies from East to West and back. 90% of the roads at the time were dirt!!

The Alaskan Highway was build because the U.S. felt that's where the Japanese were going to land after the Pearl Harbor attacks. At that time it took 2-3 weeks for weapons and supplies to reach Alaska by Ocean freighter or 1-2 weeks by rail.

Freighter, one of the largest truck makers, was born out of that post-war age, along with Petebuilt, Kenworth, Mack, and White/GMC(who is now Volvo.)

A little history lesson.
