Had this one home for about 5 months and never noticed I had'nt posted it. Im pretty sure some will see something wrong with it but its " Out Of Box" built. I would have put it in a woodland setting but I didnt feel like climbing a cedar tree to get the right shaped branches to use some lichen on, but it would have been non-realistic anyway right So here it is with crapy figures and all. Did some pre-shading on it before i applied the dark green with my airbrush., the firt time I tried pre-shadeing too.

Hello Chris,
though you decided to go your own way concerning the "camo"-scheme one can see that you have put a lot of efforts in this model.
The only thing I am wondering is what is this for a strange small plate on the left turret side on which the Eiserne Kreuz is applied on?

??? Dont know, it was molded into the turret as part of the kit. Besides, concerning the camo Ive seen a few images of all green Leo's on the web so I decided what the heck Its my build so if its wrong , oh well , It looks good in my eyes.

Chris this looks to be a very nice build of what I believe to be the Italeri kit? You should be commended for being new to the hobby and willing to post up your efforts, you should not however take peoples comments to hard as they are given for the most part to help you correct errors on future builds and to aid you in improving your finished work. Marco is spot on regarding the campaign for which this would be eligible, why not speak the campaign leader for this one I am sure they would be willing to include this one. Stop being so hard on yourself.

Nice work Chris.
This looks like the Hobbt Boss or Italeri kit - am I right ?
Have a crack at Camo next time, use blu tack and masking tape to mask off the colors. You'll love the end result - I promise
Cheers
Paul
PS: Did you see Green Leo 2A5's on the web ? I thought all are Nato Camo. I know Leo 1's were available in all green.

I think the plate you are refairing to is an ammo loading hatch that was welded shut on late model leo's and deleted on all late batch 2A4's hope that helps marco.

Hello Scott,
thank you so far.
But the welded hatches are on A3s and early A4s .
It would not have occured to me to see this (badly replicated) on an A5 or A6.
Which manufacturer produces an A5/A6-kit with this ancient feature?

The hatch was welded shut on all leo 2's eventually the tamiya kit has the weld seams but the hobby boss 2A4 kit dose not show it at all i think the manufacturer my just have made a mistake on that kit?????
nice work on the leo

Hello at all!
Me as ex-Tanker on the Leopard 2A5, I would also make some comments to your model. The weathering is well done and all in all the model kit looks good, but I think there are some things that could be done better.
I think you can directly see that it is the Italeri/Revell kit: the storage compartments should be filled better, normally the flaps do not belly out (I on't know if this word is correct).
As somebody already said: the A5 was never painted in olive. The mirrors should be flapped down when comabt-ready (the EMES (gunners optics) is open). You did one big fault: you used teh MG f the NL version. The Bundeswehr has no FN MG, they only use the MG3. And last but not least, the stowage baskets on the turret are not closed correctly at your model kit
I hope my critic isn't too hard but I know this tank too much as thta I could see over these faults
Best regards
Tobias

Hello Scott,
I have never noticed these weld on the Leos A5/A6 unless you have told me that.
Meanwhile I have seen these welds on both the real tank and the model right on my desk(at least Tamiya's).
Thanks again for let me notice this 'new' detail I have overlooked all the time...

I love Leos, and this is another great job. The weathering is nicely done!
