Soviet armored vehicle crews all wore pretty much the same thing, overalls and padded protective helmet. Any Russian tank crew figures should work.

Almost any tank crew figures will work.

The Red Army made changes to their uniform right after Stalingrad, adding shoulderboards for all ranks and changing the collar. One of the most common errors one sees in WW2 Red Army models is the pre-Stalingrad uniform on late-war vehicles and vice/versa.

So for your SU-85 you want to be sure to use figures that have the post-Stalingrad uniform. For example, all the Tamiya, Tristar and most Miniart Red Army figures have the correct uniform. The figures from Tank, Alpine and other resin manufacturers include both periods of the war so be careful which you use.

Hope this helps.

With that huge army, I think it could be possible for older uniforms to be hanging around a while though. Just a guess on my part.

Tony -

Might want to check out "Master Box Ltd" and their 'Bail Out' Russian tank crew. Gives you some very well done action poses. Here's a great review;

In some ways, yes. The Soviets certainly did recycle uniforms, but that older stuff would have gone to Shtraf (punishment) batallions and other low-regard units. "Tankists" were a very high-profile job in the Red Army, along with snipers and artillerists, so they'd probably get the new stuff more regularly.

Also, unfortunately, remember the casualty rate in the Red Army. There just weren't very many guys who survived long enough to wear both uniforms.

or You could just modify them, removing the collar detail and adding shoulder boards easily made from foil or paper.
