What is the best pick for modern US plastic (fuel or water) jerricans ? I already have Tamiya and Academy products but what about the others (like Royal Model or MapleLeaf...). Pics I have of Desert Storm or OIF show 2 different "stamps" (don't know a better word ) on the can sides. I also know that Tamiya should issue a new set in "a few" weeks but I may not have enough patience
TIA

You have to realize there are two different plastic cans, one for water and one for fuel/oil. The older metal fuel/oil cans are still around in a decent number. The old metal water can has been gone for quite a long time. Something about the tan enamel paint on the inside chipping and contaminating the water.

That being said, I don't know who makes the better detailed modern cans.

That OIF equipment set out in a few weeks? Cool.
It may actually beat the AEF stuff I ordered at the start of May getting here.

To say the truth Nate, I've been maybe a "little bit" too optimistic using the word "weeks" rather than "months". At least there has been a pic (taken at the Shizuoka Show) that shows this set ...so wait and see

I think the US and Canada use the same pattern plastic water and plastic fuel jerry cans. If that is indeed the case, then I would suggest the Maple Leaf set. The last time I was on exercise with US troops the only difference I could see was that ours were stamped Canada and 20L. The US ones are 5 US gallons.
