In a few days I'll finnish the M1A1 and I'll jump to my next MBT:
...~ CHALLENGER II~... KFOR
So I had to buy the trumpeter 2nd generation Challenger 2.I plan to save this Trump Chally 2 with the eduard PE set.
I already started the build. What can I say...LOADS of FILLING.I DO NOT recommend this kit.

The overall cost however(kit+PE) is lower than a tamiya Chally 2.

Lastly I'll finish it with a good(I hope... ) Spanish school paint job.

As you folks can see, I'll have to add a camouflage netting.Any tip on how to make it?

Hello,

maybe Tamiya's Challenger would be the better choice.

I also read nothing good about Trumpeter's version.

But now for your request concerning the camo net.

Try this

The tamiya kit is no good for me, as I aim for the KFOR up above. It has a number of different things, among them...the ERA side armor. And I am planning for a cheap build too.I would have to buy a KFOR resin set(Accurate Armor) for the tamiya Chally II...really expensive stuff.

The kit is OK if you have enough putty.
My kit is this:
http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/trumpeter/tr00323-45.htm
and NOT this one.
http://www.missing-lynx.com/reviews/modern/whiteley-brown_trumpeter.html

The OP Telic/KFOR are much better. From the accuracy point of view. The details of the mold are the same.

Many thanks for the link!!!Exactly what I needed.

Not to be critical of your kit choices....but you get what you pay for sometimes with Trumpeter.

Inexpensive kit = less quality and more work when building.

Since you are looking for a cheap build then that is what you get.....don't complain about filling issues and state you don't recommend the kit.....there is nothing positive in your statement to help other modellers.

Concentrate on doing the best you can on the kit.......if you don't want to spend the money on the Tamiya kit and the Accurate Armour armour...then you have made your choice.

Here is a link to a very good KFOR Challenger 2 build.....with an excellent attempt at the camouflage netting that was used on the tanks......and he used the same kit you are using.....and his turned out great.

Good luck with your project.....the grapes aren't always sour.

Hmmm....Harsh.

I didn't complain, I love the extra work that I have to do!!!Really! This is exactly what I was looking for, but I still do not recomend it.

As for the link, it is nice, but I hope mine's turns out better.

Uhmm, ok.

Who makes it? What set is it? How much was it? Etc., etc., etc...

It would be much more helpful if you gave a little more description with your posts.

Thanks!
Yes, definitely that camo is a must for me!
The problem is that in the first art picture, as well as the one bellow, the camo netting isn't the baracuda like the one Jupiterblitz showed me, I think it has a different pattern or something.Maybe someone can show me a close up view of a woodland British camo net.

Yeah...I know, but then I should have bouth the KFOR ERA kit from Accurate Armour, because the C2 from OP. Telic had different front (left and right side)ERA, and perhaps...other things. It was easier this way.Plus, I get to learn a lot of stuff by adjusting this not so perfect C2.

Great progress!, Good choice in leaving your figure i would be a chally over a 1/16th figure any day .

your wheels look like they still need cleaning or is it the photo

Keep up the good work

Thanks!

Now...the figure thing kind of got to me.After the chally I think I'll go easy with AFV.
The wheels aren't glued and aren't properly sanded.I just added them to see how they fit.I'll glue them after painting and wheathering the bottom hull.

After long weeks I finally attached all the parts(except the towing cables...I just can't find them ) .
Here is the link to the instructions for the PE.

If anybody spots something wrong please notify me.I'll do the antislip next with a uncommon technique.
Here it goes...new camera...better pictures.

Thanks James for the fast reply!
Yes I can't wait to get to that stage, as painting and weathering is my favorite part in building models.

Good build Paul... I did the exact same kit OOB about half a year ago, and damn the fitting was pretty bad. Then again with a kit like this in good hands... It's gonna turn out fine.

Cheers!

Paul your chally looks good with the PE gear on. Just to let you know the Challys never used Explosive reactive armour they used Chobham Armour with is just solid. I deployed with the Challys in Op Agricola ! June 99 The Cam nets used were preety much the same as the Barricuda style nets. Crack on with your good work

Paul I usually stall at this stage because I cannot use my airbrush due to the weather

I couldn't handle that much PE but it sure dresses it up a bit.

Hi paul
You have made an excellant looking challenger it really is first rate. You may be interested to now that in the concord book journal of armoured warfare vol.5 there are a lot of pictures of the challengers in kosovo 99-2000.One challenger from the royal scots dragoon guards is partly camouflaged with white winter camo netting and looks very differen't.
Like i said excellant looking chally & good luck with the painting.
