I had the chance to download some Technical Manuals and got a hold of these two vehicles. They look oddly like the M8 and the M20 respectively. The TM's are in pdf format so I am unsure if I can take a figure out of them to show. I will try...
Edit: After looking at the TM's AC T17 looks like the M20 and the Medium AC T17E1 looks like the M8...

Hey Brian,
The T17 was a AC that was going to be called the Deerhound by the British but it never was accepted by them.
All of the ones produced were apparently allocated to the U.S. Military Police.
I don't think it ever got issued overseas and was probably used only in the U.S.
The T17E1 is also known more commonly as the Staghound.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T17_Armored_Car
There were many common features in the M8/M20 family of vehicles that were used in other AC prototypes:

Cheers

I was hoping to be able to use the TM's for detailing M8's and M20's.... Guess I'll keep on searching for the TM's for them....

While the T17 and the T22E2 are similar in basic configuration they are not the same. Perhaps the most important differences is that the T22E2/M8 is 6x4 whereas the T17 is 6x6. The Studebaker T21 and Fargo T23 were also 6x4. All 3 types were similar in configuration and all had an E1 4x4 configuration just like the T17 (T21E1, T22E1, and T23E1). The T17E1 = Staghound Mk I. For more information I recommend WarWheels.net and my designation guide.

Hey James,
The 1st photo is of a T17 Deerhound and the 2nd one is a of T17E1 Staghound
While similar, the T22 aka M8 Greyhound was a much different AC from the Deerhound.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M8_Greyhound
Both were designed by Ford but the Greyhound was much more lightly armoured and had an open turret.
The Staghound and Deerhound were more heavily armoured and shared a similar, fully enclosed turret.
Cheers

John: Maybe its too late for me, but it seems like my head is just spinning right now. I thought the M8 was all closed (albeit thin armor) and the M20 open (or more open)...
Thanks again all for your input!

Brain the
M20: was a utility car was a command version adapted from the m8. The m20 had a open compartment where it could carry troops.
M8: was the same as the m20 but the open compartment was replaced by a turret that house a 37mm M6 gun.
both vehicles were used primeraly as escort and reconnaissance vehicles
hope that helps

Hey Brian,
The M8 Greyhound's turret had an open top, much like the M10, M18 Hellcat or M36 tank destroyers.
It's not easy to see but it's open:

http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/models/vehicles/m20_06.htm
The M20 Utility Car was more open on top as it dispensed with the Greyhound's turret.
Cheers
