Hi everyone.
not sure if this is the right place for this but it's diorama data so here goes.
Summer 2008 i found this wreck whilst looking for a JU88 wreck near my home town ( we found what was left of the 88 too smashed up on a beach about 2 miles on )
some research has revealed that it is a Vickers Vigour Catepillar tractor which was wrecked around early 1966. the vickers was part of a salvage operation which went badly wrong and the company went bankrupt.
the location is well hidden, very difficult to access and much harder to get out of, so she has not been salvaged away.
enjoy!
she is laid by a fresh water pool with a tree really growing around her!
a drive sprocket ? going to nature ...
the view from the swampy side.... yuck!
the tree and the track really are starting to fuse together..
stood inside the wreck looking into the transmission?
hope someone finds this usefull

Nice find. I assume this find was almost as interesting if not better than the Junkers you set out for.
Near where is it located? - I'm in the North East too.

it was a suprise to find it... its at ravenscar about 10 miles from whitby goin south... the ju88 was an absolute swine to get to and getting back to the cliff top was difficult and pretty dangerous, but the vickers was pretty buried then with undergrowth. i've waited till winter as most of the veg has died back
if you want to visit it some time gimme a shout ( bring a flask LOL )

cheers Rob!
yes that is the ship wreck they were trying to salvage... i like to visit historical sites round here and the ww2 aircraft crash sites are bizarre, lots of little bits of alloy and plexiglass scattered over the moortops, or the ocasional massive chunk wedged under a rock if they are beach sites
the ju88 day i found a small chunk of alloy in a rock pool and a couple of pubble sized bits. we found the crankshaft too but the rock sat on it must have weighed 20 tons so we just looked.
i discovered this morning that the mole model from thunderbirds used a vigor toy for the launch tractor! the toy was used alot by the model shop....
ah i learned new stuff today
:)
