Hi All

Can anybody assist me with finding (links) or know the names and reg numbers of the French Leclerc's belonning to "2 Escadron du GE 12th Cuirassier Regiment". So far (thanks to Echelon) I know of the following: "CHERBOURG 1944" (6994-0048); "STRASBOURG" (6994-0045); "YSER" (6994-0051) and "BAYEUX" (6994-0047). Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Purely out of interest, what kit are you using/going to use?

Hi Frenchy

Many thanks for your reply. I've been on the link and will definately be helpful. I'll work through it tonight using some pics that I managed to find on the I-Net.

Once again many thanks.

Kind Regards
Glenn

Hi Dean

Plan to use the Tamiya 35279. Obtained one last week and looks a great kit. Hopefully the parts will fit together like their M1A1/A2. Still working on the M1's but so far the Leclerc looks "miles ahead" since the M1A2 especially the seperate suspension arms, no-slip detail, die-cast road wheels also a bonus. One disadvantage though, from what I understand is that the barrel cannot be elevated due to fixed "mantle?". Also working out a few ideas to correct this. As you might have gathered, plan to do "a few" belonging to a specific Regiment/Escadron.

Kind Regards
Glenn

Hi Olivier

Many thanks for the info. Snail-Mail is also fine as it will be some time before I get to placing the decals. As I mentioned to Dean planning on doing a few. I'll just have to polish (very seriously) on my French. I'll aslo check and see if I can locate E-Mail, maybe via the French Department of Defence.

Kind Regards
Glenn

Hi Glenn,
if you intend to build a "super detailed" model you can use the tweaks list I made some times ago.
You'll find it on my site in the "Reviews" section, then scroll down the page. It's a pdf file.

Hi Olivier

Yes many thanks. I have obtained this last week (v1.1). Really will be useful as lot of effort was done in compiling the list with attached photographs. Thanks for your and Rodolphe's effort.

Kind Regards

I've always liked the Leclerc, but 1:35 scale kits are just to expensive and take up too much room. I've got my eye on a braille scale Leclerc from Revell thats in the local hobby store which should be fun to build. I might also have a shot at review writing, seeing there arent many reveiws on this kit.

Hi Dean,
the Revell kit is not a bad one but does not depict a current vehicle. It is good for the entry into Kosovo timeframe though.

It honestly doesnt matter to me whether its a current Leclerc or not. I just want a good, easy to build, braille scale kit of the Leclerc that I will enjoy building.

I'm a simple person

Just a bit of feedback since the last mail and futher request.

Did a bit of trail-runs with trying to get the Leclerc's barrel to elevate/de-elevate. So far I replaced (temporary) parts D25 and D26 with the bottom of a mouse-pad. I cut a square to fit between D28 and the "face-plate?" of the turret. The material is unfortunately the wrong colour (black instead of an olive-drab) and surface is not sheet-like but small bubbles. Something can be done about the colour and when painted olive-drab, it shouldn't look too bad. The barrel can elevate/de-elevate a few degrees but not to the full extents.

Also done some more (quite a bit more) of research in finding info out and have come accross two issues which I'm asking for help? "6994-0046" seen at Bastille Day 14 July 2006 but can't make out the name. It could be "LIEPZIG" which I've seen in another photo but not sure. I'm also not sure if this does belong to 2 Escadron 12RC? Any help with this will be extemely appreciated. If anybody could also assist with the registration number of "REZONVILLE 1870", this will also be great. Think this could belong to 2 Escadron as there are photos in the same group front on showing what appears to the the 2 Escadron marking? Plse help.

Whilst on the subject, do the Leclerc's have markings depicting platoons/gun tank no's. like those of the US?

Happy Modelling (and Researching)
Glenn

Hi Glenn,
You definitely need to pay a visit to this site . It's fully dedicated to the Leclerc and even if it's in French, I'm pretty sure that in the forum you can post in English.
