The kit arrived today and incidently, I also ordered the Aber PE set. I hear the Hobby Fan aluminum barrel is a must. Here is a photo of me and my Tiger:

Greetings Major Rob. Congratulations on your newest arrival. That really is a HUGE box. Be sure to take your time with it. AND you might want to check with a local hobby shop, Tamiya put a magazine out for that kit sometime in 2000. It has a bunch of great tips and help in assemblying the whole kit. I personally don't have one (YET), because the wife would have me skinned and dipped in salt water after, if I bought one right now. But it's on my wish list for fathers day and birthday. Good luck to you. Chris (Tiger 1) Carney SFC (Ret).

rob!I have seen both of you now!! very impressing
but I have to built this beast too for a friend..and additionally rework Bandais 1/15 Tiger I which has been built by my grandfather some years ago.
Do you know if this aluminium barrel is only the barrel or includes a muzzle break as well?
Bandais Tiger I is an early one, but has a small
muzzle brake ( late one ). Thus I am seeking for
a big one for an early version.
for those who do not know: there is a page
www.tigerIe.com/ runned by David Byrden. He is not only building a virtual Tiger I, he also is building the 1/16 beast and is planning to document his efforts on the web. so far only pics of the box contents are available but I higly recommend this page and its links to Tiger I friends.
werner :-)

The barrel uses the kit muzzle brake, I understand the barrel is hollow so the lighting wires can pass through. Someone I've been e-mailing who is building the same kit has a machinist friend who may make a barrel for him and may be me too.Do you know if this aluminium barrel is only the barrel or includes a muzzle break as well?
