Hi everyone,

I'm working on a Dragon kti with clear periscopes. What's the technique for painting these? I mean, if you simply paint them do you still have the advantage of the clear part? Do you paint the backside of them? I feel kinda stupid, but I'm simply not sure.

And I guess you paint them all before completing commander's turrets and before glueing upper and lower hull.... (?)

Thanks for the advice,

John

I always mask the clear part. Paint the rest of it silver. On top of the silver you can prime it and put it into a base coat. and finally remove the mask. Sometimes I paint the clear part after removing the mask green of a nice finish.

Ah, I see, you don't paint the clear part representing the glass in front. That's what I thought. Thanks for clarifying this! I have Microscale Industries Micro Mask. I guess that will do the trick?

Thanks again!

John,

I do mine the same way Martin does his. I use Humbrol mask, but your micro mask should work as well.
