Friends, some time ago I started this AFV kit (topic started) :
The build is done, this is how it looks now :
My experience with this kit : SUPERB ! I had so much fun I decided to let the paint and airbrush pistol wait and start another build :
During searching on the internet for reference pics, I got fascinated and decided to move along with this gun.
This was the scheme I wanted to do, but I removed the camo later and sprayed on Revell's Aqua Color "Sand" (see pic later this topic).
Tamiya's Surface Primer sprayed on :
Covered in Revell's Aqua Color matt black :
The Sand sprayed on :
The camo scheme added (Tamiya's Dark Green and Brown) :
I didn't feel good about the appearance and started all over again :
In the back ground my own reference pics of a similar gun (PAK 40) :
After a dirty wash (burnt umber oil paint: :
The paint damage started :
After a couple of days I got satisfied ! I had to try different ways of creating the damage, but with an old (very old FUBAR fine brush) I had good results. On the pics you also see the metallic appearance by using Humbrol Metal coats.
I'll complete the paint stage in this thread, so it will come together here.
Thank you for your attention.
Cheers Guy !

Guy, nice job on the gun. I've never been able to do a good job of weathering. You have done a great job on the subject.

Hey John, at least one person gives a reaction (May be I made a crappy cannon ? But even then you can tell me guys, I don't bite, LOL). I start to believe that artillery is only our piece of cake. Thank you for your kind words. Currently I'm building a diorama to show this project.

It's time to finish the Lefh 18/40.
The gun barrel part is 99 % done now.
I use oil paint to weather it.

Really good work Guy. I can't believe I missed this thread originally. The paintwork is stunning. I much prefer the monotone scheme with all the scratches to the three colour scheme you tried earlier.

Hey Pat, thank you my man. The yellow scheme turned out really good, it is a good base to start from in the weathering process.

Yes I think you've got them covered. I'd direct you to the AFV Club web site to check but I've never had much luck navigating around it. Kinda weird design.
If you want to check out reviews, apart from ones here, Terry Ashley has some over on PMMS.

I've got a couple of them and am looking forward to building them.

Alan, thank you.
I have seen the PMMS reviews, I have all the ones I listed on the way, just wanted to make sure I didn't miss some obscure one resorting to hunting it down on ebay.....
