After keeping myself busy for whole long a year of my wedding, finally I am back to the modeling world. Just resume my Tamiya Leopard 2A6 build (Please forgive me for ignoring my in progress 2A4 and stryker! )

As mentioned before, I am going to do something different to this build, I decided to take away all the side skirt and side armor of this baby. So I have added some details for the mountings and also the missing details for the kit iteself.

Hello Alex,

much work you have put into the Leo so far...especially the scratch-built empty mounting bars for the Eisgreifer.

Do you plan to paint the Leo in winter camo?

Actually do wish to do some wet mud and serious dirt for that because I have found a way to do the camo net which I want to feature. But many of my friends recommend me do the winter camo as you mentioned, they said it is more interesting and make more sense. But the sad thing is I have very few winter pictures. Would be great if I can get some more winter pictures if there are!

"Would be great if I can get some more winter pictures if there are! "

I see.

Maybe you know these pics

Wintercamo

"But the sad thing is I have very few winter pictures."

Fortunately you need not more pics to know where to apply the white colour as there is a regulation within the Bundeswehr which simply says to cover the brown pattern.

But actually everyone paint the Schlämmkreide where they like to have it.

And as supply within the Bundeswehr is characterized by an economy of scarcity not every unit receives enough Schlämmkreide (if any).

So they cover their Leos with cotton sheets.

Everything is allowed as long as it is white and deforms somehow the contour of the tank.

Great and Thanks so much for your information, pal!

Let me try to plan my painting and scenerio for it, since I do wish to add a simple diorama for it together with a wiesel MK20. So I do wish to find some supporting pictures for a good presentation of an A6 with winter camo. It is said that it is not seldom for them to have maneuvor during winter or spring. So I do wonder if I can find some.

The only winter camo photos that I can find are of kits painted in it, and not of actual tanks.

Your kitty looks good Alex. You mentioned that you have found a way to make convincing camo net. Looking forward to it.

Thanks Dean,

actually I have some good pictures showing them in use during winter time but they are not having any winter camo or at least not that obvious! so I do hope to get some more if any. But anyway I have some pics which are of an A5 but not an A6

Oh Olivier, actually it will be continued very soon the reason is I found some of my changes done to A4 side skirts are not in scale. So it has to be reworked and of this, I am still thinking whether to go on with the new type side armor or simply rework it with those commonly used old typeside armor... So it is better to put it aside before I have a conclusion!

Hello!

Your Leo looks very good, especially with all these additions. But one thing I would change if I do myself so much work with all these brass parts is the track. You should remove the burr (I don't know if this is the exact word for it) on their sides. But all the other things are absolutely perfect

Best regards from Germany

Thans Tobias for your prompt reply.

Actually I have got a set link tracks from AFV club to replace them, since it is still not yet done, I simply use the original one for photo taking!

Hope you like it, also would also like to know if it is frequent to see the A6 in manevor with gears loaded int the turret baskets or else where.

Thanks
Alex

Dear Pals,

Finally, I have my leopard build work close to be done. The only missing part is the tow cable. Hope I can complete it soon and start my painting!

I do enjoy this great kit! Thanks for watching! Your comments are definitely welcome!

Hi Alex,

I've posted my comments on ML before reading this! Forget my change the track comment - obviously it's a smart move to get AFV C's tracks!

To iterate what I've said on ML - add two tie downs to top of each side basket - centrally front and back. Notice that there's almost always a leather belt through these tie-downs...

Cheers!

Lawrence

Thanks lawrence.

Actually I am planning to add the tie down too, but just planning to put some camo net inside the blasket before that!

Ar... talking about my camo net, let me share with you maybe later today or tmr, I find it quite interesting

Thanks for your reply.
Alex
