Hello to all!
This is my first post here, but armorama has been one of my top webpages to browse almost every day...
I would like to share this projecto with you: a soviet armored train from WW2
I know there is a resin kit somewhere out there... but besides being toooooo expensive, I wanted to see what my limits where in scratch building.
It all starts with the drawing with a CAD software. I drew the whole vehicle like a paper model, then print it on adherent paper, and glew it to a poliestiren board.
I then cut it with a sharp blade and the fun begins:
I could have bought a KV1 and have removed its turret... but i rather scratchbuilt it all...
Some sanding before continuing
And now the riveting:
The turret, now with the canon (made from part of an radio antenna ):
With primer:
With the full painting:
It's almost complete, next stage is the painting of the tracks and the assembly of the wheels.
:)

Hi Antonio, all I can say is WOWWWWWWWW, that's really well done. I wish I had the courage to try to scrtchbuild but when I see guys like you build & paint your own, I just give up. The finished train looks well weathered, can you explain how you done it?
Again wow,
Kenny.
Again wow,
Kenny.

Hi again,
Thank you all for your words. Although I've put the whole photos in one post, it have spent more than 200 hours in it. And will spend some more, hehehe..
Kenny Smart, I have painted it all with Vallejo Russian Green, then applied a coat of hairspray, and finally I did the white cammo, with random airbrush strokes. With a brush and some water, I then removed some of the white paint, which easily comes off because of the hairspray under it.
To achieve some more weathering, specially in the panels, I used sienna acrilic paint.
Terry Smith, I use Zwcad for the drawing; it has passed the 30 days limit, now prints a watermark in the middle of the paper, but i'm ok with it

Rob Ferreira, while I am waiting for some resin made wheels for this project, I am currently building this one :
( image from: http://wio.ru/rr/ww2mal.htm )
Just a sneak peek of it, I'll make a new topic for it later on:
This one is also on the "drawing board":
(It will give me some more work than the others because it is all open on top, no roof on it... so I'll have to do a lot of detail. The Pak40 and the Flak 38 are already bought )
Rick Saucier, I would be very honored to send you the pictures once it is finished for the On Display Feature! That is just great! You have just made my day
