Hey there, fellow Nam Nuts!

Good news! The new VLS Mailorder supliment lists an M-42 Duster in the future/TBA category!!! Wahoo! Of course, the BAD news is that some TBAs NEVER seem to be released (a la that DML Kettenkrad with the cable reel that has been expected for the last three years or so)...

I will remain guardedly optimistic anyway!!

Does anyone know of any companies with future 1/35th scale Vietnam Armor releases in the future? Now that we now have a T-54, TWO M-41 Walker Bulldogs, maybe the Duster indicates some new Nam releases in the wings... Vendors have told me that Vietnam-era stuff does not do that well --- I'd say that there is a bigger audience for this era than any of the Japanese Self Defence Force hardware Tamiya puts out. Am I wrong?

On the INJECTION MOLDED PLASTIC, I'd like to see:

PACV hovercraft (man, imagine a Tamiya offering of this one?)
M-50 Ontos,
AH-1G Gobra
Aussie Centurion
LVT5E - Conversion or Injection molded
M109 (today's standards)
M-35 2& 1/2 ton or the 5 ton bigger brother
ANY of the Brown Water Navy craft
PBR Mark I conversion
M578 Tracked Recovery Vehicle
Nam-era wheeled Ammo Trailer (seen towed behind Dusters and ACAVS).
Hue or Saigon-styled buildings/structures
More figure and accessory sets (including civillians and a @#&ing Water Buffalo already)!! *Boy those Hobby Fan Figure sets look great, but they are EXPENSIVE!*
Figures from the French Indochina conflict...
etc. etc.

Okay, I know I'm probably dreaming. with these requests... What do you guys want to see?

And though I am not a big aircraft modeller, I AM looking forward to getting the Trumpeteer F-105D at some point (hopefully via Model Expo, "super cheap," as Mad Magazine used ta say).

Much Aloha

Johnny B.

1. We need a decent Sheridan. The old Tamiya (and Academy copy) are well past their prime and the resin one (Jaguar?) is too expensive and gives most modelers post traumatic stress syndrome when trying to assemble it.
2. A new M48A2. Pretty easy to retool the Tamiya M48A3 to give us the A2 variant. Only option is to beat the old Monogram kit into submission with parts from the Tamiya kit.
3. Affordable M-50 Ontos. Old Renwal/Revell one is old and the resin one is too expensive.

Well at least the helicopter issue was addressed courtesy of Panda. Having just spent a great deal of time upgrading a Sheridan and agreeing there is a need for a new one, I no longer care as mine turned out better than I could have hoped. What I would like is figures.....several especially "civilians".

How about injection molded Cadillac-Gage V100?

How long will the expensive Verlinden's resin brick be our only choice??? There is very nice V150 with interior from Hobby Fan, but it is awfully expensive and it is still resin, not plastic. And it is not V100!

...M-578
M-60 (A1 hull,correct turret)...

I'd like to see an M578 as well (Verlinden turret is hard-to-find). M60 wasn't used in Nam, but it would be welcomed as well. My CMD M60 turret is superb though.

My vote goes for the V-150 since the Philippine Army is still using some of these along with some M113s and Simbas. A local modelling group made a styrene kit of this a few years ago. The molds still exist but my source says that it's available on a per order basis only
