Thanks!
Those are great shots. All this time and I thought US soldiers were too cool for seatbelts.
Cheers,

They are a requirement in all Army wheeled vehicles (unsure of the Stryker rules though). Even Bradleys and M113 FOV all have seat belts for crew and passenger use. Although I have never sen them in use in armored vehicles.
Someone posed the question about seat belts in a HMMWV. The orignal HMMWVs had lap belts, these are the newer 3-point seat belts. I don't think I have a truck with the old style still.

Sabot, do they still have the requirement that the LBE's must be removed prior to wearing the seatbelt? When I got out in 96, they were making us remove our LBE when not in the field and wearing seatbelts. They had a problem with troops getting internal injuries from the belts being pulled over the mag pouches and such in accidents? I'm just curious. Thanks.

Steve, In the June 2003 Countermeasure magazine (published by the Army Safety Center) there is an article on page 18 that talks about a seat belt extension that adds 18" onto the seat belt so it will fit over LBE, flak vests and chem suits. This magazine is accessible by going to http://safety.army.mil. Click on the Countermeasure July link and from there you can open any of this year's previous issues.
