Hello everybody !!
Few days ago I posted in the Modeling General forum a question on how to make fake nails and about weathering wood technique to be used on a simple wooden chariot , but I didn't get any help.
I hope to be luckier in here.

Frank, first off you should go to the wooden cart on the front bottom of Armorama page. This wooden cart looks like it has set outside for some time. Try and figure out what color it looks like, It looks like a greyish color to me. I would find some dark grey that was close to that color or mix my own. I would thin a drop of that color with two drops of thinner and paint it on the underside to see how it looks. Paint just a small part so you can have other practice spots. You will just have to try a bit at a time till you are happy with the color. You might want to practice on some extra wood first

To mimic the nails (and by that I assume you mean nail heads) use pin heads or get some PE rivets of a size to suit., If the heads are to be sunk then push some holes into the wooden structure and put a small amount of red/brown in each hole. it really depends on how far you want to go.

Hi
Here is a link to what in my opinion is one of the finest modelmakers in the world, Chuck Doan.
It describes his technique. I bookmarked his site years ago and visit it any time I want cheering up or to see how I wish I could be at diorama model making. The Master.....
Nails in wood
and this is the link to his albums of work, pick one and enjoy. You'll find descriptions of how he does things. That doesn't mean you'll be that good
