Hello all, I have just got the MB casualty set and the french resistance set,an inspection of the sprues shows well defined folds an empty entrenching shovel holster with the shovel seperate carried through the belt the sten gun and the bren are excellent in the resistance set only downside appears to be a fair amount of flash.Any way the main reason for this post is has anyone built them yet ?

Hi Phil,

Sorry not to get back to you sooner - I hope you don't feel rejected by no response Sorry mate!

I had a look through our reviews, but no dice - it seems these 2 releases have slipped under the radar. If you're up for it we'd love reviews of these 2 figure sets. I realise it may not help you now, but at least it'll help others... (hope that doesn't sound wierd )

G'day Phil,
They sound like very interesting sets.
Can you post any photos of boxart / sprue shots?
Cheers,
Andy

Hi
Nice sets.
Just watch out for the Magazine for the sten gun in the French Resistence set as the box art has it on the wrong side. Dont have this set so dont know if it's correct on the instructions.

Well, that's the box art further up the thread and the magazine goes into the left hand side - that's correct in every war movie I've seen...

The German chap with the empty entrenching tool cover and the spade tucked into his belt - not so weird; maybe he was digging in when his mate copped one and was happy to hurry up and bail on the action, maybe he's keeping it to hand as a hand to hand weapon.
It's little details like that which give a figure character and add 'life' and points of interest to your model - I think MasterBox are to be congratulated on these sets, they're not afraid to try something different.

Never do anything in a hurry.

I have the Cas Evac set half built so I took them outside to photograph, put a sheet of blue card down on the garden table for a background and put the five figures and the two poncho pieces down. Then the postman came to the gate, my dog went for him and I had to restrain the dog and sign for a packet- no not a kit- something for the wife.

When I went back to the table the card had blown away scattering the figures and poncho to the ground. I tracked down the four carriers but the ponco and casualty have yet to be found

Luckily I have another set still on the sprues.

Some flash, more on the second set I have than I remember on the first. Seam lines to be cleaned up but nothing major. Nice poses. The poncho is cast very thickly and I might try replacing it with paper or foil. The hands gripping the poncho are cast in place and also on the arms.

I had a problem getting the ammo pouches to fit over the entrenching tool stuck in the belt so I trimmed off the belt and buckle and replace it with a strip of very thin styrene. I'll use a DML buckle.

These are a great set for conversion and I also plan to use them to upgrade the old Tamiya set Machine Gun Crew on Manouvres

I'll expand this into a full review so that it goes into the permanent record, I would have done it sooner but I thought this set had been offered for review in the Contributors forum.

Oh it was - and sent out. I've just had word from the Spanish Post Office that it went walkabout somewhere over the Atlantic otherwise a Review would have been posted weeks ago. It's taken them almost 2 months to confirm that it reached their distribution center and then apparently vanished into the ether...

Maybe, though I bought a couple of sets of Hornet German headsets recently so I might use those, I 'm thinking of eventually using this set and Tristars "Bailout from the pocket," together and the Hornet heads might help pull the whole thing together.

Hornet heads are the way to go - faces on figures are such a focal point, so it's nice to get 'em right and also all looking vaguely like the same species...

Keep us posted?

Thanks for the pics guys.
They look like a nice set indeed and well worth the purchase price.

Rudi - I don't have these sets in the stash.. but I probably have some very similar but inferior, 3 times more expensive resin kits somewhere....
