I hope it's not a redundant message... I've noticed on DML site that they shrank their 1/35 Tiger I Initial Production kit into Braille scale which is now due in March.
http://www.dragonmodelsusa.com/dmlusa/prodd.asp?pid=DRA7370
The announcement mentions specifically #100 of s.Pz.Abt. 502 – that’s the one captured by Soviets. Although the bigger brother (3 in 1 kit) features also #121 of the same unit and “generic” initial version vehicle with a snorkel, the 1/72 announcement appears to have one vehicle markings only.
Which bring me to the question… The pictures of captured #100 show the turret bins positioned on the sides of the turret, not in the back as other vehicles. Since the back carries the unit “mammoth” insignia, it makes me think it’s likely genuine position. But still, were the bins placed that way or is it after-the-capture “modification” done by Soviets?
Also, is there any picture of #100 before the capture?
Thanks

I've built a test shot of this kit, and it has very good detailing (thanks to being scaled down).
I discussed two possible decal options with Dragon, but I can't say what will be in the final kit.
This is Tiger 100 in German service with 2 side bins.

David, thanks a lot!
Based on what you have seen on the test kit, would you say that the tweaks you mention on your site for 1/35 scale will be still applicable? I guess so, if it is "just" a scale down...

A lot of them don't apply due to the different parts breakdown.
As far as I know, the 1/72 kit will have mesh screens.

Dragon has just published a series of CAD images of this upcoming kit:

Hello Ales,
thanks for these informations.
Good news so far if DML issue this kit with one of the most characteristic feature of this specific Tiger: The mirror-inverted tracks (if you know what I mean)!
The CAD-pics do not show them - does anyone know more?
Another thing I am wondering at is why DML have gone a step backwards and provide again on-molded tools in opposition to their recent Fehrmann-kit.
Especially as the upper hull is announced as a "new tooled" one...
