Does the new t-55 from tamiya fit for the vietnam area ??
or you must use a t-54; t-54b ??

maybe for the end of the vietnam war ?

I'm not so sure about the T72, or even the T62 used in Vietnam.
There are also claims that they had the ZSU 23/4, but I haven't seen any photographic evidence.

I'm not trying to start a fight here, but as far as I can tell the T-72 isn't in the NVA or Vietnamese order of battle.

T72 Tank
The T-72, which entered production in 1971, was first seen in public in 1977. The T-72, introduced in the early 1970s, is not a further development of the T-64, but rather a parallel design chosen as a high-production tank complementing the T-64. The T-72 retains the low silhouette of the T-54/55/62 series, featuring a conventional layout with integrated fuel cells and stowage containers which give a streamlined appearance to the fenders. While the T-64 was deployed only in forward-deployed Soviet units, the T-72 was deployed within the USSR and exported to non-Soviet Warsaw Pact armies and several other countries. In addition to production in the USSR it has been built under license in Czechoslovakia, India, Poland and former Yugoslavia.

I think it's possible that some t-62 tanks were used in vietnam..the NVA used everything they could get ,usa trucks and material,t-55,t-... even very old franch armor.

Once again the trivia buffs have gotten this off track. I believe the man asked (as do I ). Will the Tamiya t-55a kit be correct as a North Viet Namese tank? Nothing was asked about T-62's or T-72's. Not that your knowledge is without merit, at least answer the primary question

T-54s (both Russian and Chinese origin) would be more common, but a T-55 wouldn't look out of place. Donno about the "A" model, or the specific mod level, but the Tamiya T-55 with some good reference photos would be a good place to start.

There were NO T-72s in Vietnam and I would bet that there weren't any T-62s involved either.
The 62s were designed/built as a specalized tank destroyer and were significantly more expensive than T-55s. And most of the export ones were going to the Arabs at that time anyway....

Tamiyas T-55 is great for what you want to do, and there are alot of aftermarket kits for it out there.
Have fun with this.

Yes, Tamiya is very good to build a NVA T-55 Tank. North Vietnam Army used both Russian and Chinese built T-54 and T-55 (chinese Type 59). Here are some reference pictures :

Captured NVA T-54 at Quang Tri in 1972 (NVA N°321)

Knocked out NVA T-55 at An Loc in 1972

Captured NVA Type 59 in 1972 (NVA N°385)

NVA T-54 in the Presidential Palace - Saigon 2001 (NVA N°843)

Hope this helps.
