I'm new to T-55s and I got my hands on the Tamiya kit. I did a search on Syrian T-55s and the general consensus is that the Tamiya kit is good to go straight out of the box. I've seen Jan Willem's model here on Armorama and am very impressed.

So I have two questions - the Esci instructions for their T-55 kit show a very colourful camo scheme for a Syrian T-55 in the Yom Kippur War 1973:
How accurate is that scheme?
My second question is : is the Fine Molds replacement barrel suitable or is there a better alternative?
Thanks in advance.
