Hey All,

Just a quick question, how hard would it be to "back-date" the new Italeri M1A2 to the OIF M1A1 model. I have heard only good things about this kit and I am wondering if it would be easier (and more accurate) than trying to update the Tamiya M1A1.

TIA,
Chris

The kit only includes the CITV (commander's independent thermal viewer) and upgraded CWS (commander's weapon station). They are all together on the end of a large sprue that looks like it was designed to be replaced. I hear they are producing an M1A1 in the near future, this sub-sprue probably gets replaced by another with the M1/M1A1 CWS and blanked off manhole cover.

It is possible, but you would need a donor M1/M1A1 CWS. The manhole cover would be easy to fabricate with a circular piece of styrene and some bolt detail in place of the CITV.

Be easiest to just use a DML M1A1 or Trumpeter M1A1.
