Here is a question that keeps bugging me since I have bought the Tamiya M2A2 kit : I know that each lower side armoured panel is made of 2 sheets of metal (?) bolted together (and not 1 as in the kit ) but what is between these sheets?
-Spacers (1 bolt =1 spacer) ?
-some kind of small frame on which the outer panel is bolted ?
Please help me, I've got to catch up on some sleep
TIA

Frenchy,
Its a spacer between the armor plates. I might be wrong though, its been a while since I've been on a Bradley.

There is a small block of aluminum between the armor plates (not sheet metal).
Tape measure is pulled out to 3" and the tape measure itself is 2" long.

Thanks for the pic Rob (as usual ) Should I presume that the aluminium block is " I " shaped and goes from the top of the panel to its bottom, a bit like a wall stud inside a partition wall ? (hope you get the picture - words are sometimes hard to find when english is not your mother tongue )

Frenchy,
What you see in the Pic that Rob posted, is just about as big as the whole block is. There are several of the blocks at different places in between the skirts. Basically about 21/2" x 2/12"Just big enough for a bolt to pass through. HTH "Q"

Yes and no. The block is a simple aluminum rectangle that is 2" wide by 6" long (deep) and as you can see by the photo, only about 1" thick. Only the top row of bolt heads have these long block-type spacer. All the other bolt heads below the top run have just a circular spacer behind them. These are slightly bigger in diameter than the washers shown on the top run of bolts. By top run, I mean the ones on the outer armor plate, the two bolts that show shiny metal washers and one is just below a rust spot.
[Edit] Q, your Brads must have different spaces than mine. I went out to look after I started this reply (prior to your post) and what I see is long spacers for just the top row of bolts, all the rest are circular spacers that are in effect, fat washers.
