Hi
spotted in the Miniart 2009 catalogue, but not shown on their web site yet, well not that I can see, some in progress British Soldiers Tank Riders.
As listed by Jim Rae on his Toy Fair report - set number 35071
Currently only B&W outlines but they look good and I'm sure up to Miniarts usual standard of animation and sculptor.
Page 15
If you check out the other pages you'll see artwork for some of the other releases we already know of ...looks good
Check out page 16 ...the British Tank Crew. All good stuff.......

Always nice to see british/commonwealth figures, especially 8th Army as they are in short supply.

I want to see that set converted for a Europe setting, it is also about time some manufacturers made a few sets of british infantry fighting and not patrolling or sitting around - there is a gap in the plastic model sets for these. I know that dragon do some and also that verlinden do some resin ones, as well as masterbox but the fit on masterbox is rubbish and the detail is not up to todays standards, however the set of the tank riders will fit perfectly with the dragon sets.

The displays using the masterbox sets at model show and the like have perfect detail and fit but when i go and get the plastic kit from the shop the detail is rather poor. The german sets are good but the british is poor.

Hi Phil,
Aren't you glad manufacturers only put their best on show? I'm not sure they'd sell many if someone like me glued them together and did the box-art Could you imagine how many burgers McDonalds would sell if they put a photo of a "real" burger up and not those delicious marketing piccies
Sorry to hear your Commando set (speaking of the Commando set, I can't find any reference to one by MB - do you mean one of the Para sets? I'm probably simply overlooking it) was not all it could have been. So to clarify it was just the one Masterbox set of figures you found wanting? Given the "German sets" comment I gather you've been happy with previous sets you've bought?
Rereading you initial comment ("fit on masterbox is rubbish and the detail is not up to todays standards") I think you are referring specifically to the Commando set?
I realise we have quite a few reviews of MB figure sets here on Armorama, but we always welcome more - even of those kits already reviewed, as it's always nice to get a second opinion. And so, I'd like to welcome you to send us a review of this set.
Keep well
Rudi

Hi Phil,
I'd agree that there first attempt at the Commandos wasn't a brillient success. The uniform detail was very soft. I think the weapons and kit are a bit big too. However, with a bit of work they had useable poses. I replaced the packs with AA bergens, weapons form the Tamiya set, hornet heads and used some of them in my LCs.
The outside chap is an MB figure
The medic is an MB one
I 'm not a great figure painter or builder for that matter, but the work required to the MB set was no more or less than I had to do with the Tamiya and Dragon figures. Haven't seen the new paras, but the tank riders will be very welcome welcome and lets hope they do a set for NWE too.
Only other set I've used were some German tank crew who I turned into dock workers, so I wasn't too concerned about the detail.

i agree that with a bit of work they could have been improved, with the aftermarket kits and some spares i might have another go at them or complete the set to see how they come out.

Hi Phil,
I think that with the British plastic figures, that until they get to Gen 2 standard, there will always be something that needs changed, mostly it's the heads but sometimes the kit too. As Pat says in the other post, the Commando set had soft detail and the usual seem lines but you can turn them into fairly good figjures with a bit of work. If the pose fits for what you want then just tart them up as best as possible. I still buy the Tamiya sets just for the spare kit you get.

I think i will figure out a diorama to put them in and tart them up to fit what i need, buying the weaker kits for spare parts is a good idea i will try that.

Good news. They can be used in a truck too.
