Hey Jim,
As far as I now from what little research I've done the answer is probably no, it seems only to have been applied to panthers and jagdpanzers...at least that is what the photos tell us. Although when it comes to camo patterns I'm always one for a little artistic license, we have to keep things interesting right!!

I dont have a scanner right now, but I have a new vanguard book on late war stugs. There are a few with the disc pattern. One interesting photo is a late war stug IV with side skirts (schurzen or however you spell it). The stug is camoed in the regular three tone disruptive. However the side skirts are done in a very very ornate three tone disc pattern. I was amazed at the attention paid to this tank. It reminded me of an old school digital camo. I will scan the photos in if you need them, but if others have it, it would be appreciated.

That would be interesting to see Mark. I thought I remembered seeing somewhere a Stug with this pattern as well. Like you say , it was on the side armor while the vehicle itself was the regular 3 color camo. Maybe it was in one of the Panzer Wrecks books. I'll have to check.

Here you go Mark, link fixed:

oh yeah I'm very familiar with that vehicle...although technically I think it is more of a variation of the ambush scheme since it appears the brown and green circles were painted on with a stencil, instead of being created by overspraying the yellow...or maybe it could be the Tarnmuster I pattern (as opposed to the TII pattern) I can't say for sure

here is a pic of some skins I created for the game Company of Heroes based on that same stug (ignore the pak!)

I absolutely LOVE Company of Heroes! That was and is the only RPG type game I ever played and replayed and replayed again. I have the second one, Opposing Fronts, but haven't played it. I wish they would have made it to be able to play both sides. After the patches were made to make damage inflicted and absorbed more realistic, it became a most enjoyable and palm sweating game! Anyway, I really like what you did with your creation. The picture above isn't the one I was thinking of. That is one very pronounced pattern!

Nice post ts, just a couple of comments. In your title you posted:
"Subject: German "Disc Type" or "TII type" camo scheme"
If by "TII" you meant Tiger II, then that would be incorrect, the disc scheme was not used on Tiger II's.
Also, if anyone is interested in going into more depth on the disc scheme, there is an excellent article in AFV Modeller about it. The article can be downloaded for a very modest price here:

Cheers,

He mentioned somewhere that the T II had nothing to do with Tigers. This question had previously come up. As I recall, it was the first letter of the name of the style of camo or something like that. I don't think the Germans referred to the Tiger II as the T II so it would follow that the association between the tank and the camo name would be mistakenly assumed in English or one of the English based languages.

Methinks, anyway.

Here's a tip for anybody buying the article from AFV Modeler about the camo. Typically when you buy a download, you get an email with a link you click on to get your download. This site doesn't do that. After you check out, look for a link that says "My Downloads". It's in the list on the right side of the page. If you don't see the list from the check out page, go to the home page. Look down the list for it. Click it and a page will open with the item and a link to click to download the article. If you have signed out, you'll need to sign back in.

When it's done, make sure you log out! Don't just close the page without logging out first! trust me on this!

I learned this the hard way!

For anyone wanting to do this scheme there are great stencil sets out by Uschi #s 2002 and 2006. I purchased these and plan on using them on a Panther G Late. They cost a couple of bucks but they take all the hard work out of the process, and they are also reusable. Best regards....Dale
