Hi all..
I want to share with you my little work that I've done during my free time(very few time) on exam session.
I also ask for constructive comments....I have some doubts
1)my winch is correct?!(it comes from pro art dumvee...)
2)tires..they have correct patterns but wrong logo..(come from Blast)
3)steel plates and gunshield are scratchbuild..what do you think?!
4)Do I need to add a lower steel plates on the lower part of the humvee body?!
comments question and critics are as alway welcome
PS
Sorry for this double topic but I'm not able to change my previous post in a blog....
PPS
I need to add some more little things like lights...some grilles, mirrors ecc ecc it's still a wip

im no expert on oif vehicles but that looks really good! is it all done painting? it looks great!

ust one thing...the shield behind the gunners position looks kinda funny. maybe replace it with a half hexagon shaped structure. the curved ust looks odd. everything else looks fine!

Ciro,
Good build. I'll look forward to seeing it painted.
I think the shield behind the gunner's station shouldn't be as high as you've made it.
If you look at the photo thats posted, the metal plate looks about as tall as the pintle on the gun mount. I've measured my 1/35th Tamiya 1025 and the pintle height is 15mm from the roofline, so something about there will look better.
Happy Modelling

It may just be the photos, but the shield looks just a bit too high.
Great job so far.

Hi Ciro
Maybe these pics can help with the rear armor shield. They show that the top edge is not straight : the "bump" should protect the gunner's neck

Thanks Frenchy
....I also have these images...in fact I've build my gunshield using imagese like these as reference.
My rear gunshield is aligned with the front one...I don't think that I'm in need to reduce it...asa suggested by Tom
Tom thank however for the comments...I like this type of observation and constructive help.
About the "bump" I agree with you observation I also have some images in wich it is not present...anyway I'll keep it in mind..cause it's still a wip and I can create a new one.
James and Tom (parrot) thanks for your comment..

Looks great. Very nice and neat work. The doors look very good.

AFAIK those armor panels around the gunner are unit level mods and so there is a lot of variation in them. Gotta go check some of my ref books again.

If you're interested I have a set of the PE for along the sides beneath the doors that I won't be using.... PM me an address if you want them.

Cheers,
Sean

Ciro,

Another beauty! I guess you need another set of high back seats?? LOL I'll get that stuff out in the post tomorrow on my day off. I have only one minor pet pieve with your build. The bolts in the door holding on the hillbilly armor are sticking way far out. File them down a bit, and it will be 100% perfect!

Gary

PS - where did you get the tie down on the hood??

Hi Gary....
first of all,
many thanks for your support and your help...you already know...if I can do something for you..you only need to write!!!
Tie down:I've used a lead foil, thickness 0.3mm and a lead wire of 0.2mm....it's easy!also you can use tamiya masking tape...
Bolts:Ok...they're a bit "too heavy" I'll sand down a bit.

if you have other suggestions let me know...much appreciate...as always

Sean:PM sent!

Hi all....this is a request:
Have you a blast model set with the new weapon ring code 35050?!I need in particular the joint for the gunshield....I've tried to do it by myself but I'm not happy with the result.
If you have one...let me know....
Any suggestions about a good scratchbuild of the thing?!?
regards

Ciro

That looks really good! And I honestly cant see any faults, at first I though your gun sheild looked a bit funny but later photos show it correctly shaped.

I'm very impressed and I really hope you are intending to finish this with a good paint job and weathering!

I'm a huge Humvee fan myself, check out my collection on warwheels if your bored..

With the photos as evidence, I would make the shield lower. That said I'd only do it on the next model. This is because as far as I can tell, USMC shields were built in-country, so the shield could be bigger. Otherwise I like it very much. The winch looks fine. The tiedown strap needs to be secured. Also, I'm not sure about making ASK armor for the sides. You've already added the steel strips to the doors which look great. ASK was issued as a kit. There was the doors and the sides so they would have been put on together. Now one of frenchy's pics shows a vehicle with what looks like ASK side armor but I'm not convinced that's what it is, but id have to look a other pictures to be sure. Anyways I like where you are in this. have you figured out what armament you plan on loading?

Jeff:
You're right about ask kit...it's a very different thing.I think that chris smith means the lower steel plates on the humvee body.Frenchy pics not show an ask kit..last photo is not so clear...but definitely those doors aren't the ones that come with ask kit(maybe only lower plates..I'm not sure)...tiedown will be secured...

Roy:
Thanks for your words...I already know your works at warwheels..I like your 1114 the one with the camo net on the pope station...sweet!!!I'll do my best to depict a good paintwork

Hi all.....
I've started the painting,,,,base paintjob....only doors for now....they will be nato green and then weathered.
Steel plates, here I've some doubts...some images that I've show them matt black(with dust over them) other are in a reddish/rusted colours...or ...in other images steel plates are painted in sand colors.
What do you think!?!black is good!!?I'm open to suggestions

Let me know
Regards
Ciro
Ps
Note that steel plates are not glued onto the doors so in these photos they are not well positioned.

Ciro, looks great! If I recall correctly, the Marines actually used sections of oil pipe to build the field mod armor around the gunner. Yours looks just like the ones I remember at the Embassy in Baghdad (and there was considerable variation in height and style).
