I've been waiting for HobbyBoss's AAVP-7A1 to hit the Hong Kong stores after it became available in Japan and Europe.
Anyway, Yesterday I found out that both Luckymodel and Hobbyeasy have for preorder this kit.. LVTP-7.
My questions are.. how come they didn't get the same kit that has been released elsewhere?
Are there any major differences between the two vehicles?
Can the LVTP-7 be depicted as a vehicle in Lebanon in 1982?
Thanks in advance
Hisham

So have I ! Even with shipping cost added, it's still cheaper than one from a French online store...

Hobby Boss AAVP-7A1 kit depicts the upgraded LVTP-7 with the UGWS turret and new headlights clusters (IIRC the engine air intakes are different as well). Their LVTP-7 kit has the earlier turret with a single .50 cal MG.

Yes. Here are a few '82-'83 pics from Militaryphotos :

Judging by the kit decals sheet you can see here :
http://www.hobbyboss.com/82409-cn.htm
there are Korean, Italian and Argentinian markings included...No US ones.

The early LVTP7 was used by the US Marines from 1972. You can build an American amtrac from the Hobbyboss kit (or from Academy's older product for that matter), but you'll have to find your own decals. As Frenchy's photos show, it was still in use in Lebanon in 1982-83.
The later LVTP7A1 had square section inserts for the headlight clusters instead of round ones, two supports on the upper hull sides for the top rear doors instead of one, and the commander's cupola was elevated over the driver's for better vision.
