Hi all.
Can anyone tell me if the Italeri 6278 1/35 Ferdinand Tiger is a god kit or does it need too much work to bring it up to scratch? I'm sure somebody here will be able to let me know.

Well it all depends on what you are looking for ...Yes it does look like a tiger (P)...is there alot to do to make a great kit ..yes ...I don't like the turret for the kit as the commanders hatch is very simplified...the holes for viewing are big and are not in the right place I believe..(I don't have the kit in front of me ..but I think I remember that ..)It all depends on which one you want to build as each tiger (P) was slightly different and this kit seems to be a bit of a mix of them all..You can use a turret from any early tiger and that will help with that problem but then you need to modify other things ..tool storage...width of the track guards all kinds of things changed from one to the other..If you want a good reference look for Panzerkampfwagen VI P (sdkfz.181) The history of the Porsche Typ 100 and 101 also known as Leopard and tiger (p) by Thomas L. Jentz and Hilary L. Doyle...from Darlington Produtions. Everything you want to know about each tiger is in there...
