Can someone please tell me what is the proper terminology [ name] for the M-8 Howitzer? Is it a motor carrage or just called a tracked Howitzer?

well,according to my references it's Howitzer Motor Carriage M8 if thats any good......at least thats what Zaloga,Lord of the Drab says

It is the M8 Howitzer Motor Carriage, or HMC. This means it is a motorized indirect fire cannon. Tank destroyers were called Gun Motor Carriages or GMC. This meant it was a motorized direct fire cannon.

In today's terminology we would call it a self propelled howitzer.
