Ok boys and girls I am going to start a build blog, I am really new at the 1/35 scale after spending alot of time painting miniatures for gaming. This won't be a speedy build since i have a new baby to keep me busy. Any input on techniques or any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated, so don't be afraid to jump in and give me some ideas or advice. here is a picture of my starting point.
as you can see i have the blast models jumbo, tamiya sherman, bison decals, Cyberhobby tracks, eduard PE, and formations wheels. the only thing that i need to buy will be the 75mm barrel to replace the 76mm in the blast kit.
thanks Matt

Matt, Maybe if you want to spend more money-try picking up Tasca's late suspension set. Dan

The photo in "Armored Thunderolt" looks like a 75mm to me. May I recommend replacing the kit.50 cal with an AM one?

Yes it is a 75mm gun on cobra king, the blast kit includes a 76mm aluminum barrel. i could use the plastic 75mm from the tamiya kit, but i would like an aluminum one. i will just splurge on the tasca suspension since i have spent way to much as is, no reason not to.

Hi Matt,
It seems you have a good beginning.
Two questions: 1 What you will use in tamiya's M4 kit?
2 Does BLAST kit include a whole sherman or just everything above lower hull?

this blast kit contains most everything above the lower hull, it does however include the up armored nose. it needs suspension tracks etc. According to the perth site the .50 is a really good mold so i was thinking of sticking with it.

This site has a good run down on what is needed and what is included

Matt, Does the M4 kit come with a rear end from a M4A3? The 'A3 is what the Jumbo is based on. Dan

Ahhhh Cobra King.
Stick with the 50 cal Blast resin Mg its very nice - you'll prob. just have to straighten her out a bit (warpage)
The Tasca Suspension will allow you to get that squat look that the Jumbos had just glue the bogie arms down. Are you using the large bearing Formations wheels?

Well I ordered up the tasca suspension so when my wife asks why I have spent so much on this "toy" i will just blame it on all of you or on authenticity's sake.
these are the formations wheels for the jumbo, they are the same as used by zaloga in his book. I am looking now at the rear end and will do a little more looking through reference material to make sure that i have the right stuff. i have cut off the nose of the tub to put the nose of the tank on. it went very easily thus far. i will need to pick up some plasticard to fill in some spaces.
i'll get some pictures together tonight and post them up, thnx
EDIT: Just an FYI that is the sherman that blast calls for to do this conversion, so i'm assuming with the exhaust etc in resin and the parts from the tamiya kit it will be correct.

Matt, If the resin kit does not have the parts need please give me a PM and I'll look in my Sherman box for the parts that you need. Dan

Well sorry for the lack of updates for those following this, but work/life has a problem getting in the way. the tasca suspension showed up today so i am finally fully kitted out to get this kit underway, i spent some time the other night and the nose of the jumbo is in place i am trying to decide whether i should put some "green stuff" to hold it in better, its a good fit so i might not need it.
as for the back end of this tank I have the parts to make it correctly so I am going into a long weekend so i will be able to get some work done on this model hopefully at least the suspension. i'll get some pictures up by the end of tomorrow.
