Carlos has showed us again that you don have to spend a fortune on aftermarket items to build a beauty of a kit.

He is presenting us with his Panther G Late version from Tamiya which he build OOB.

Here is his description on how he did the white wash:

Quoted Text

It has been build OOB and I indented to represent a white wash with a heavy
weathering. For that I first painted the vehicle in the standard three tone German camouflage (Model Master), clear cot, decals and then I over sprayed a coat of satin white (Humbrol). Then when the white was well dried (two days). I gave a wash of clean thinner (turpentine) and let it a couple of minutes to
soften the white paint. Then with a good quality brush I gave strokes where I wanted to remove the white paint till I obtain the desired effect. When this was finished I let it dry for one day and then I gave a general oil wash using a mix of browns, rust and ocres. After all a general coat with matt varnish an then in some parts to accentuate the effect I used pastel chalks.

Thank you Sarge59.
It means it was build without any aftermarket product, just with the original parts that comes with the kit.
OOB = Out of the box.

Hi, Wow! Excellent!!!!! What a really nice job there. I esp. like the coloring of the suspension and tracks. You have much to teach us all with OOTB kits.

Take care, sgirty

Out Of the Box, or OOB. It means as the kit comes. Rules of most contests will allow drilling machine gun muzzles and filling sponsons. I think OOB is the true measure of a kit and the modeler. When you open the box, what you see is what you get.

Carlos - really nice work there! You got me looking at my DML Panther model a little closer now. I've never built a Panther or Tiger. Nice models like yours gets me interested in them...

Thank you Gunnie :-)
DML (Dragon) Panther is a very good kit to build OOB, specialy because it has the tracks to be build link by link and very nice datails. I have one Dragon Panther A (Early) that IŽll build perhaps next year.

Carlos, nice :-)

I love the Panther and I am going to build another one soon, the DML Panther D.

Awesome work although OOB is not really to my liking :-)
