Hi Seb there's nothing wrong with pics the reason the figure looks too dark is because James hasn't done the skin tone yet if i'm not mistaken James has primed his figure using black primer hence the confusion

Hi James
I remember painting this figure myself just after it came out so this brings back some memories!
One thing I would say is to check your colour references regarding the uniform and kit. At the moment everything seems to be pretty much the same colour? The M69 flak jacket was made from a more olive green fabric and wouldn't have faded the same as the pants which would've been much lighter in colour, likewise the same can be said for the butt pack and bed roll. I think if you made these colour variations it would really bring this guy to 'life'.
I've added a link to Dave Brubakers website which contains pics of almost all the U.S. Vietnam war gear amongst other stuff.
I'm interested in seeing this figure develop, good luck with it.

damn, and I thought I was the only one who used warhammer paint. make sure you spray them with a can of " 'Ard Stuff " or the paint will wear off really easily. I also laughed at the title Black GI because the pictures look like the whole figure is black (no offense)

Hey, James
I've got a Vietnam-era dio posted in my photos that includes the black GI. All but one of the figures are Verlinden. I've forgotten who makes the other, which is the Army Ranger in a beret holding a map. I thought of creating a firebase dio, but I had a lot of trouble locating usable reference photos of a firebase. So, I just posed them around an M113.
In hindsight, I should have consulted some friends of mine in the local chapter of VietNow for some firsthand information. As it turns out, they all have collections of personal photos in addition to numerous stories relating to their combat experiences.
I did, however, dedicate the dio to them.
