Hey everybody,

Today I would like to present the pictures of my recently finished Zil-157 truck in Arab service hauling an SA-2 "Guildeline" missile. As always, your comments are much appreciated.

Cheers!

Amazing... Very well achieved, I like a lot those Arab subjects, specially the camouflage... Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Thanks.

The kit is great - very detailed and nicely molded. The hardest part of the build was the alignment of rear suspension of the truck as it is very complicated and quite fragile - both the leaf springs and ball joints tend to snap very easily.

The pictures with truck alone show that the tread direction on the right front tire is incorrect. Fixing that resulted in me breaking off the front wheel and having to glue it back with CA glue. My advise to anyone building Trumpeter Zil-157 kits is to avoid touching the suspension/wheel assembly once it is in place.

Very nice job. Only one question why is there so little weathering on the missile or is it just me?

You are correct - there is very little weathering on the missile as I figured it would be stored protected from the elements. So excessive rust or dirt build-up just did not seem appropriate.

Look at the reference photos and you'll see that 9/10 times the SA-2 looks pristine next to the battered old ZIL! The ZIL was simply used for transporting the missiles to the firing platforms, they didn't sit on the back of those things for very long.

interesting subject to build and from here it looks splendid. the missiles were stored well and during transport had a tarpaulin shroud held in place by metal framework on some trailers too. the vehicle and the missile make for a really good contrast. thanks for sharing. cheers, mh.

Nice build!

Two suggestions I'd like to make: the cross bar along side the Zil engine compartment shouldn't be there; inside of the missile nozzle should be bare metal, unless the ordnance had been consigned for permanent storage.

Again, I really like this build and the subject matter as well.

Hey Sub,

That's a stunning build ! Congrats !

Now, some constructive feedbacks since you're askin'... cos I wouldnt be able to get such a good result...

- On your 4th pic, the decal shows... is it silvering or just the angle of the picture shot ?

- On the 1st and 4th pic the seam on the trailor tank shows a little.

- 4th pic again... the rear left wheel on the trailor seems to have an angle with the base that looks strange...

but this is just cos you asked...

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Richard
