Hello friends,
I am fairly new to modeling and not yet have an airbrush. Do you think the following figure by verlinden would be difficult to paint by brush with acrylics?
Regards,
Jordan

welcome to the site. and i think your supposed to brush paint figures not airbrush them, but ive only been modelling for two years and there alot more to be learned. if you head over the historicus forma experienced painters like chas young could give you some advice and tips good luck calvin ng

No need. I printed it out for a reference a few months ago. It has made a great reference.
What do you think about the figure? Too complicated a paint job?

I would say it's a good place to start. You have a monichromatuc uniform and relatively few additional colors. He's facing downwards, so the eyes won't be as critical. The only possible difficulty is that there's more flesh than some. I'd say go for it.
Do a search here for flesh mixes or refer to this for some good mixes. He's in North Africa, so you'll want a sun tanned effect.

I brush paint my figures all the time. I even use citadel minatures (aka warhammer) paint & brushes (water based FTW)

Hi Jordon i too like you haven't got myself an airbrush yet so i do all my modelling using paint and brush at the moment i'm concentrating on my figures as i want to get an airbrush for my AFV's with regards to your figure i agree with the other guys it would be easier to brush paint the figure especially with all of the small parts involved

Most figures, especially in 1/35 scale, are painted by brush only. An airbrush is used mainly for painting whole vehicles and larger items.

Indeed .... but what is a good help is a primer from a rattle can, as the first step. Warhammer do a very good primer, that shrinks nicly, but its a bit on the expensive side. I use an automobile primer, that is every bit as good, and a third of the price. This gives your paint something to bite to. Vallejo and the likes dont paint well directly onto plastic. It also has the advantage of checking for flaws before actual painting.
