Hi guys,

At the moment I'm working on a Academy model of a M-60a1/reactive armor with a mineplow as used by the Marines in Desert Storm.
Does anyone has perhaps some closeup pictures of the so-called adapter kit that was used to mount the mineplow on the fronthull ?
I found a PDF-file that hase some drawings on it, but a pictures of the real thing would be very handy !!

Cheers,

Gé Hovens

It was not as much an adapter, like the Israelis use, more of permanant mounts that were welded to the tank. There were two oval/oblong shaped mounts attached to the upper front slope of the hull and one square plate with bolts welded to the lower front slope. I think that Gary Owsley has some pictures that he has posted before. Not much but I hope that it helps...

Hi John,

Strange, in the USMC PDF-file that I found it looks like two mounts that were placed OVER the attachments-points of the hooks on the lower front hull.
They seemed to be attached with big bolts !
Hope that Gary reads this post !!

My mistake. I saw plow and thought roller and the fixed mounts on the hull of the M60A1.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies !.

I do have one more question:
Did the M60a1/era with mineplow use the same hydraulic box on the rear fender as is used on a M60 with dozer blade ?
In what way does the hydraulic system works ?

No, the plow is not raised by hydraulics, but electric motors. The two tubular protrusions on the front are electric motors with straps that go down to the plow heads to raise and lower them. A power cable goes from the back side of the "hook" that is on the center of the hull to inside the drivers hatch, either through the hatch or through one of the vision blocks (the prefered method so the hatch can still be closed).
