Hello,

I’m looking for any reference picture of the T-34/76 with Uralmash (UZTM) turret that carries red star and white number 104 on the turret. It’s one of the marking in DML’s 1/72 set #7224 and it supposedly served on the Leningrad Front in 1943.

Any help much appreciated in advance.

No. 106 "Stalinets" is well known I think, is it possible that they have simply extrapolated that there must have been a 104 and based it on that...? The Stalinets tank is from 1943 and has the red star and the Order of the Red Banner on the side. There is a painting of this in T-34 In Action (Squadron) although there is also a photo in the New Vanguard T34/76 which shows the writing to have been done somewhat differently, in fact like done on the Bison decals, which it says are for the Leningrad Front, shown here: http://www.tankratsafvdepot.com/bison-russian-t34-m1943-mix-bd35044-p-1065.html

Sorry if that was absolutely no help at all!

Thanks Matthew.

I'm aware of the possibility that the #104 markings are completely made up. You're right that it can be an extrapolation. Whether the #106 "Stalinets" could be a potential source I don't know (it's doesn't have Uralmash turret for instance). But it is not really important. Although I would really love to have a picture of the real thing. If it was made up, oh well then...

I’ve finally found – with a help of a fellow modeler – the picture I was after...

It however triggers more questions.

First, the inside of the digit 0 on the turret seems to be of a lighter color. Not as light as the white used for the digit itself (assuming it’s white). Does anyone have any idea what color it would be? And also why it’s there in the first place – I would assume just plain white digits over the original turret green?

Second, she apparently carries a regular fuel drum. It seems to have two colors pattern – like if three stripes of a lighter color where applied all around. Any idea what color it is and why it was painted this way? Could it be a color code of what’s inside? I’m thinking it might be a captured German drum...

Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks.
